Congrats to the Chiefs. They played great all season and taking nothing away from them but the defensive holding call was garbage. Last week Goodell said the officiating has never been better. What a crock of 💩 that is…. 🤨

Any coincidence that the two best offensive lines in the league are in the Super Bowl?

San Francisco 49ers DC reportedly has 4 head coaching interviews leading into their 2nd round matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. Juggling the prep for the next game with just 1 interview must be tough, let alone 4. How is this not a conflict of interest where the team is concerned? In the interest of competitive integrity during the playoffs, should the NFL consider suspending coaching interviews until the playoffs are over?

Brandon Staley has made some questionable calls, but playing Mike Williams and Joey Bosa during a meaningless game the week before the playoffs start may be the worst. If they lose this weekend it should cost him his job. Both players have substantial injury histories and the move was absolutely senseless.

Chargers’ WR Mike Williams suffered a fracture in his back last Sunday that is expected to sideline him the next two to three weeks, meaning that, barring an LA Super-Bowl run, his season is over, per .

Jacksonville Jaguars. They have a player friendly coach, good offense, potential superstar young QB, no state taxes and its just a short drive from his home in South Carolina. They are also in line to potentially dominate the AFC South and compete for championships for the next few years, especially while Trevor Lawrence is still on his rookie contract.

Where should DeAndre Hopkins go?

The Broncos ownership gave the green light to replace the entire grass field before this weekend’s game against the Chargers. Good to see player safety truly being prioritized 👍🏻

Steve Smith not making the cut for next year’s HOF, thus not being a first ballot HOFer is clear evidence that the voting process is flawed. Has there ever been a player or person that embodies the saying “he got that dog in him” more than Steve Smith? He didn’t win a Super Bowl, but some of his stats are amazing.

- He was one of four WRs (Jerry Rice, Sterling Sharpe and Cooper Kupp) in history to earn the triple crown of receiving. The other guys had Joe Montana, Brett Favre and Matt Stafford throwing to them, Steve had Jake Delhomme.

- In 2005 he led the league in receiving yards while playing for a team that ranked in the bottom 5 in pass attempts.

- In 2008 he led the league in receiving yards per game while playing for a team that ranked dead last in pass attempts.

- From 2005 to 2008 he averaged over 100 yards per game from scrimmage with 38 TDs in 48 games with Jake Delhomme as his QB

- In 10 of 11 postseason games, he either had 100 yards receiving or scored a TD. The one game that didn’t happen, the Panthers won the game while only attempting 14 passes.

- In 2005, second round of the playoffs against the Bears who had one of the league’s most feared defenses in the league that year and during that era, Smith torched them for 244 yards on 15 touches. His individual playoff performance that year was one of the best ever seen from a WR despite his team getting bounced in the NFC Championship game against the Seahawks.

- Among players ranked in the top 25 for receiving yards in the postseason, Smith’s 91 yards per game ranks first in front of Michael Irvin (82.2) and Jerry Rice (77.4).

Some may say that his dominance wasn’t consistent from year to year, but you have to understand that he was severely hampered by a run first offense and several years of very inept QB play (see Delhomme’s final few years and Jimmy Clausen). Even with QB deficiencies, he still put up solid numbers. All of this being done from a man who wasn’t blessed with size, but made up for it by having more heart than maybe anyone who has ever stepped onto a football field.

His HOF worthiness goes far beyond his dominant game film or his eye popping stats. Has there ever been a better trash talker at WR or maybe any position? Remember when he dropped the hammer on Patriots’ CB Aqib Talib then giving us the brilliant “Ice up, son” quote? How about when he played for the Ravens in the game against his old Panthers team, telling bystanders that there would be “blood and guts everywhere”, then after his revenge was had he told his old team to take their asses “back to Carolina and now my grass”?

The TD celebrations were among the best. My favorite was during a game against the Vikings where he torched the trash talking Fred Smoot for 201 yards and a TD, then broke out the rowboat celebration. It was hilarious and my all time favorite!

Steve Smith is not just one of the best wide receivers of all time, he’s one of the best and most entertaining football players this game has ever seen. If the voters can’t see that, they must not have been watching!
