MBC RECEIVES K7.4 MN FOR 2023 ENTERTAINERS OF THE YEAR

Luthando Holdings a company which sells and supplies Yahama products has made a donation of K7.4 million towards the 2023 Malawi Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) Entertainers of the Year Awards.

Managing Director of Luthando Holdings, Hendrix Laher, said he feels obliged to support the event because it is one way of promoting creativity in the entertainment industry after almost a 19-year break.

Meanwhile, MBC Regional Controller (Center), Takondwa Jumbe, has commended Luthando Holdings for their kind gesture towards the event saying the funds will meet some of the costs. She has also urged people to vote for their favourite entertainer.

The event is scheduled for 30 December at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe.

Police, through the cyber crime unit, have arrested Kondwani Mukoma, a 25-year-old student from the Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar) for creating a fake page bearing the name of Former Speaker of Parliament, Henry Chimunthu Banda.

National Police Publicist, Peter Kalaya says the suspect used the fake Facebook account to entice girls to have a relationship with his nephew (himself) since he was pretending to be Banda.

The suspect later blackmailed his victims by leaking their n**e photographs as well as sleeping with some girls who thought he was indeed Banda's nephew.

The suspect is expected to appear in court soon to answer charges which include personification and spamming.

POSITION: GENERAL TRADE MANAGER

OVERVIEW
Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of General Trade Manager in the Commercial Department. The successful candidate will report to the General Trade, Lubricants and Specialties Manager. The major activities of the position are:

1. Ensure General Trade (B2B) stability through retention of existing business and gaining new accounts.
2. Implement and execute marketing strategies and deliver value to our customers.
3. Ensure that all General Trade (GT) customers are communicated to, and are aware of the Controls, Regulatory Compliance and minimum Health Safety Environment standards or requirements. Implement the Safety Checklist for GT installations tool for top 20 customers and develop action plan for remedial attention where necessary.
4. Manage credit to ensure that the target overdue percentage and Credit Debtors Days are achieved and maintained to minimize TotalEnergies Marketing Malawi Limited (TMML) exposure.
5. Evaluate and recommend equipment installation, rehabilitation and closures of consumer sites to improve profitability and to reduce costs through proper capital management.
6. Prepare and present status report, trends and commentaries on GT business monthly basis
7. Conduct periodic surveys to assess market situation and competitive information and make recommendations to maintain TMML's competitive edge. Carry out market segmentation.
8. Continuously work hand in hand with Customer Service and Operations on the product supply issues both from TMML’s supplier and to our customers.
9. Conduct in-house training programmes to Territory Managers to among other things; have better understanding of their roles and company expectations around it, help them acquire tools to better manage their sales territories, improve time management and to have better understanding of the critical success factors for a GT territory manager.
10. Develop and implement GT fuels volume stewardship for both existing and targets customers by territory and constantly review results and trends as away to improve profitability.
11. Ensure proper and appropriate agreements are held with the customers - Supply agreements, Equipment agreements and Credit Risk Assessments, etc.
12. Continuously run General Trade Contribution analysis of the accounts to obtain their values that can influence planning of some appropriate activities. Report monthly contribution of top 20 GT accounts.
13. Maintain up-to-date training and knowledge at Key User level with at least monthly interaction with Head Office reference contacts regarding issues resolution and new developments
14. Actively assist all users in the tool adoption and usage, maintain database and user list up to date, and ensure quality and timely reporting of KPIs for the tool.

Qualification and Experience
1. Minimum of a bachelor’s in business administration/Sales and Marketing with least 5 years marketing experience.
2. Good communication and excellent computer skills.
3. Self-starter results oriented and ability to work with minimum supervision.
4. Strong leadership and negotiation skills and qualities.
