Central Luzon cops continue disaster response operations

CAMP JULIAN OLIVAS, Pampanga- Police in Central Luzon continue to carry out disaster response operations as Super Typhoon “Karding” remains in Central Luzon.

In his report to Chief PNP PGen. Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., PRO3 Regional Director PBrig. Gen. Cesar R. Pasiwen said that he gave directives to all commanders to implement previous measures which were observed including all guidelines under the PNP Critical Incident Management Operational Procedures (CIMOP).

The top cop also made the rounds to inspect police units on their preparedness measures and actions being undertaken as super typhoon Karding hits Central Luzon and to oversee the situation of areas which are being hardly hit by the typhoon as well as the condition of all personnel deployed for response operations wherein 1,186 personnel are currently deployed for SAR operations while 2,191 are on standby, ready on call and 150 personnel composed the PRO3 RSSF with more or less 3,500 SAR equipment are being utilized.

The Regional Mobile Force Battalion 3 were also instructed to conduct forward deployment in order to readily respond to any eventuality brought by the super typhoon.

Meanwhile, all provincial and city directors of PRO3 rendered their reports to Pasiwen on the current situation of their respective areas of jurisdiction, search and rescue efforts including clearing operations and relief distribution.

Based on combined reports from all police units of Region 3 and Office of the Civil Defense-Region 3, as of September 26, a total of 6,249 families composed of 22,946 individuals are temporarily sheltered at the 889 evacuation centers region wide, 3 infrastructures are damaged in Olongapo and Pampanga, 63 barangays are submerged in floodwaters in the provinces of Bulacan and Pampanga while 1,525 Barangays in Aurora, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales have no electricity and 4 main roads in Aurora are impassable to vehicles.

PRO3 top cop also expressed his condolences to the bereaved families of the five (5) members of Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) who drowned while responding to flood-hit villages in San Miguel, Bulacan.

PRO3 will start the distribution of relief packs to families most hard hit during the onslaught of Super typhoon Karding in Central Luzon.
