Yesterday at a conference, I spent about 16 hours around other people. Which is about 16 times more than normal for me 😂 I needed to recharge my social battery and spend some time alone, so I ended up spending an hour at the Garden of the Gods park.

I had talked to someone else here who was surprised to hear about my time spent solo traveling. It has honestly made me so much more independent. This morning, I didn’t have to coordinate with anyone. I left when I wanted to (6am). I hiked at a pace I wanted to. I stopped and took Instagram pics with my tripod and ate a muffin while watching some deer. AND IT WAS GREAT.

If you’ve ever wanted to solo travel but are scared, take it one piece at a time. Go out somewhere and eat alone. Go to a movie alone. Go for a hike for a couple hours alone. It is truly so freeing when you can put those pieces together and drive across states and stay in a hotel by yourself and choose whatever you want to eat and do whatever you want to do whenever you want to do it 🫶🏼

I’m officially self-employed! 🥳

On February 27th, I quit my corporate tech job. I had been considering it for awhile and after a lot of time spent projecting numbers and looking at my budget, decided to take reselling and content creation full-time.

Since then, I’ve had a couple recruiters on LinkedIn reach out about more senior roles that they have open. And each time, I consider it for a moment and ultimately decide that I do not want to go back to a tech role anytime soon (or maybe ever).

Getting laid off twice within a year gave me a test run to see if self-employment is something that I’d like. And I loved being unemployed 😂 I’d spend the day thrifting with my parents or by myself, I was available when friends needed my help, and I had more time to workout. This time, however, I am actively choosing to take this path, instead of having it thrust upon me when I got laid off.

Honestly big shout out to all the resellers that I see doing this full-time. Leading up to quitting, I would screenshot posts of people celebrating their self-employment anniversaries because they all felt like signs telling me to take the leap.

So to anyone reading this, thank you for following along on my wild life 🫶🏼

Had a great time thrifting with yesterday 🤗

It felt like a constant stream of “Have you found this brand before? Have you sold this brand before? Do you want this? Do you think this is authentic? Will you take a photo for me? Will you take a video for me? Do you follow this person on Instagram?” 😂

Even though we sell some similar things, we were able to hand off a couple items to each other (I got a NWT Torrid top, Annie got a pair of vintage Disney kid’s overalls), and learn some new brands from each other!

Can’t wait for next time 💃🏼🫶🏼✨

Met up with yesterday for breakfast while I was in town, and then we realized we had 30 minutes to hit up a thrift store so of course we had to go 😂

Abbey and I had met up years ago when I was in KC, and even though it had been awhile since we last talked, we did not run out of things to say 😂

📍Miami, Florida

Stopped here for 2 days before driving to St. Petersburg for a wedding. We added this on to our trip because my boyfriend is a big Duke basketball fan and they happened to be playing University of Miami.

Things we’d recommend:
-Miami sunset cocktail cruise with Fiesta Cruises of Miami. Open bar and they pointed out the homes of celebrities as we passed them. But bring a jacket, because it gets chilly as the sun goes down 🥶
-Everglades Safari Adventure Park 🐊 We took an airboat tour here (and saved a little money with my national parks pass!), which was fun and then we saw way more alligators walking around their sanctuary.
-Titanic Brewery- nice place to stop and eat before the game and it was close enough to campus that we just walked
-Bayside Market- spot near the water to walk around and shop or get some food. We loved the Chili’s there 🤪

Overall, we preferred St. Pete over Miami 😂 Miami had bad traffic and parking wasn’t fun, so maybe just stick with public transportation there if you can manage it. Plus, we’re not the type of people to go out to clubs 😂

📍St. Petersburg, Florida 🌅

We had a great time in Florida for Wyatt’s friends’ wedding. The weather was much warmer than Iowa, but still a little chilly for a beach day.

Some spots we liked:
-Par Bar- 18 mini golf, and I got 3 hole-in-ones 😎
-The Frog Pond- great brunch spot. We went here because the reviews were great and the portions were very generous (see brunch pic). Each of our meals was roughly $15.
-Stillwater Tavern- food spot near the pier, I loved the mac & cheese
-St. Pete Pier- cute spot to walk around and there were a bunch of vendors set up when we were there
-St. Pete Bagel Co.- great spot for a quick breakfast. Don’t go too late in the morning or they might be out of your favorite donuts 🍩
-Sirata Resort- big fans of the heated pool and it was great for a small beach wedding. Maybe check if there is a gymnastics competition the same that you’re there or you might find yourself in the hot tub with literally 20 tween girls 😂

4 years ago today, I made my first Poshmark sale 🎉 And since then, I’ve done over $100k in sales across various platforms 🤯

That money has paid my rent, helped me get through unemployment (twice), start an emergency fund, contribute to my retirement accounts, and also travel to some really cool places.

And oddly enough, 3 years ago today I posted my first TikTok. I didn’t really take it seriously until last year though.

Sometimes in the day-to-day, it’s hard to see how far you’ve really come. I look back on that first Poshmark sale or my first TikTok video and think, “Wow, I really had know idea what I was doing. This looks terrible.” 😂 But I got started and kept learning, and that is what had made me successful. I still don’t know everything, but no one ever will ✨😌🫶🏼
