Curious about how long an apprenticeship lasts? 🤔

As a registered apprentice in most trades, you will work for approximately one year and then switch to studying in class for an 8-12 week period, either full or part-time. The cycle repeats throughout your apprenticeship training – lasting around two to five years depending on your circumstance, trade, and employer.

Workplace Safety & Prevention Services is empowering the next generation of safety leaders, instilling a safety-conscious mindset to keep young workers safe on the job.

Heading off to a new job can be exciting. It can also be scary. And with good reason. Young workers aged 15 to 24 are at an increased risk of getting hurt on the job, especially during their

First and foremost, to stay safe in the workplace, workers need to know and understand their legal rights and responsibilities as workers in Ontario under the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

starting a career in the trades?

A: " It's one of the best steps in your life, you

We asked Jill Konorowski, who initiated the " Women in the Trades" initiative at Ontario Power Generation a bit about her journey and the success of this important project.

"Stepping into a male-dominated career can be intimidating. However, my experience has been positive. My coworkers have been supportive, patient, and encouraging; helping me gain experience I initially lacked."

"I want young women to know they are accepted and needed in the trades. When I put together a “Trades Team” for both women-focused and open events, I made sure that it was a team of both men and women to send a clear message: that we work well together, and we support each other. ' said Jill.
