Officers used flashbangs and other tactical equipment before making their way inside. When they entered the house, the suspect began to shoot a firearm.
INDIANAPOLIS — One man is in custody after he allegedly fired shots at officers during an almost 7-hour standoff with police inside of an east Indy home Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
At around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person armed with a weapon inside of a residence in the 200 block of South Gladstone Avenue, near Sherman Drive and East Washington Street.
According to IMPD, a woman reported being held at gunpoint by the suspect earlier in the day after she escaped.
When police arrived on scene, they learned the man had barricaded himself inside the house, and they made several announcements for the man to come outside peacefully.
After the suspect refused to exit the home, IMPD requested a SWAT team and detectives to respond to the incident.

IMPD says the man continued to fire a weapon during the incident
Ending around 4:30 a.m., IMPD confirmed the suspect was taken into custody and nobody was injured, including the female victim.
The suspect has been taken into custody.
There is no suspect outstanding.
