Holy God, we thank you for this day and for all the ways you have blessed already this week. We ask for continued blessings in the days to come. We pray that you will protect us from dangers seen and unseen and keep us safe beneath the shadow of your wings. We pray that you will wrap us up in your loving arms and grant us your peace. Loving God, thank you for this day of new mercies and new possibilities. Thank you for keeping us safe from dangers seen and unseen. We acknowledge that you are great and greatly to be praised. We lift your name on high. We come confessing our sins and asking for your forgiveness in all the ways we have fallen short. We thank you for your faithfulness even when we have been unfaithful....

The concept of justice is a recurring theme throughout the Old Testament and is rooted in God’s Covenantal relationship with Israel. The original Hebrew meaning of the term justice pertains to all of the actions that contribute to maintaining the Covenant, “the true relation between man and man, and between God and man” (Heschel, 1961, p. 268). Sometimes the world seems so heavy that your heart is about to break. No one cares to listen. You have nowhere else to turn, so you talk to God about it and record your thoughts in your journal. Scripture tells us God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3). Later, when you go back and read your journal entries, you have evidence that nothing is too hard for God. Some people have started to experience what psychologists call “pandemic panic,” here defined as “sudden fear or anxiety, often causing wildly unthinking behavior.” In other words, some people are terrified about what the future holds and have started to give in to their fears....
