Jen Psaki will find out pretty quickly if appearing in front of a couple of dozen White House reporters every day in a very controlled and friendly environment is enough to turn her into a television star.

She is reportedly on her way out of her gig as White House press secretary and heading to New York to join MSNBC as soon as May.

If she does leave the podium for a television studio, she will be just the latest in a very long line of people who did the exact same thing. Why? Because it’s a natural transition to go to a cable network that is an echo chamber for either Democrats or Republicans.

Many words have been used to describe Twitter over the past few years, many of them unrepeatable, but one word that hasn’t been something associated with the social media giant is interesting. Until now. Elon Musk changed that narrative rather quickly when he purchased 73,486,938 shares of Twitter Monday, which gives him a staggering 9.2% passive stake in the company.

His move led to a massive ripple effect, which resulted in Twitter stock surging more than 25% on the premarket Monday. Here’s what web bush analyst Dan Ives said about Monday’s move on CNBC.

“Musk could try to take a more aggressive stance here on Twitter; This eventually could lead to some sort of buyout. This makes sense given what Musk has at least been talking about, at least from a social media perspective,”

The stock price for the social media company rose 27% after Musk spent a couple of billion on a shopping spree of Twitter stock, and the stock price rose over 27% thanks to Musk’s big move.

It was the best day for the Twitter stock since its IPO, and the overall stock price has been up 73% since 2013, when the company went public.

As much of a clown show as Hunter Biden’s life has been for many years, the CIA agents charged with keeping an eye on him should be grateful he has expensive taste in homes.

Hunter lives in Malibu, California. Of course, he’s near the water, in a home he’s renting for $20,000 per month with his 35-year old wife, Melissa, and a son named Beau.

So, because the Secret Service needs to be close, they rent the house next store. Spanish-style, six-bedroom stunner with a pool, gym, spa, and “castle-like tower” because who wouldn’t want that in a place on the beach.

Jeff Bezos hasn’t been the CEO of Amazon for almost a year. Yet, stories about what outfit his girlfriend Lauren Sanchez wore to a pool party will get a thousand times more news coverage than the low-key Jassy receives for running one of the world’s biggest and most profitable companies.

A story in TheStreet took a deep dive into Jassy’s compensation, and it revealed his salary as CEO is $175,000.

But there is no need to launch a Go Fund Me campaign for the long-time Amazon employee; the story also mentions the 61,000 shares of restricted Amazon stock Jassy has that will vest over the span of 10 years, which should pay him roughly $212 million if things continue to go according to plan.

NFL fans don’t know what to do with themselves from mid-February until late July. That’s essentially the off-season for the league, and sure there’s the NFL Draft, free agency, and the release of the upcoming schedule to get excited about for a few days, but that’s about it.

Well, the NFL might have a way to keep hardcore fans happy and entertained those five months without football because word is they are close to developing a streaming service that would include games, team content, radio, and podcasts, according to The Athletic.

Word is the new subscription service being called NFL Plus, and the NFL is motivated to do this because their deals to stream games for free via Yahoo and a few other companies ended. Plus, the NFL Sunday Ticket deal with DirecTV will end after next season.

Very soon, you might be able to give the person sitting next to you on an airplane a dirty look if they do something stupid and they will actually see that you are doing it.

Americans have been wearing masks on airplanes for two years. That also means that airline passengers have been bombarded with passive-aggressive threats from airline crew for the last two years if said mask dipped a fraction of a centimeter below their nose.

It all could be ending. Soon. The Chief Health Officer for Delta Air Lines, Henry Ting, told CNBC he thinks the mask mandate will be lifted by April 18th or shortly after.

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, inflation, oligarch’s toys being taken away. All big stories that have been pushed down in importance this week as most of the world obsesses over the shocking moment from Sunday’s Oscars when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for telling a joke about his wife.

A new video surfaced that shows a new angle of the incident, taken from an audience member’s phone. The footage seemingly shows Jada Pinkett Smith laughing after her Fresh Prince hubby smacked Rock on center stage at the Academy Awards.

Chinese investment firms and banks are asking their essential staff to stay at the office late this week. Real late, as in all night, every night. The financial firms are offering those employees between $80 and $315 to have a week-long sleepover, and some of those companies are going the extra mile by providing sleeping bags, food, and toiletries. The really generous employers are placing folding beds underneath the desks of workers.

China is in the middle of a significant COVID outbreak, and the country is actually admitting it this time, reporting over 25,000 cases since March 1 in the city of 26 million. In Shanghai, a staggered lockdown began Monday in the eastern half of the city. 11 million people were ordered to stay inside for at least four days. On Friday, the western half of Shanghai, with over 14 million people living there, will begin its lockdown.

You might need a finance degree to have seen this one coming. A non-partisan study conducted by researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco has issued a report examining why inflation is so high right now. A big reason is the free money Joe Biden’s administration continued to print and send out to Americans.

Here’s a fancier way of saying that same thing, courtesy of Oscar Jordan, Celeste Liu, Fernanda Nacho, and fabian Rivera-Ryes, who wrote it in the weekly economic letter for the San Fran Fed.

“Fiscal support measures designed to counteract the severity of the pandemic’s economic effect may have contributed to this divergence by raising inflation about three percentage points by the end of 2021.”

There appear to be talks of peace being a little closer to reality between Russia and Ukraine Tuesday than it has been since the start of the invasion over a month ago.

Talks in Istanbul, Turkey, were a step in the right direction to end the war.

Here are some of the reported highlights.

While Russia is still destroying parts of Ukraine with their un-ending siege, plans are in place for Ukraine to launch an NFT museum, with the sole purpose being to “preserve the statehood and history of Ukraine.” That’s what the Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation said.

It will be called “Meta History: Museum of War. It will include what’s called a “warline,” described by officials as a timeline of events that will have a corresponding NFT.

Those NFTs will be an individual tweet that refers to a significant moment in the war. Illustrations by Ukrainian artists will accompany it.

Ukraine is putting up an incredibly brave fight against a Russian military machine that is much larger and better funded. Still, one thing the Ukrainian government is doing very well is garnering financial support worldwide. Millions of dollars have flowed directly into the Ukraine war budget, and a lot of it is coming via bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

On February 26, two days after the invasion began, Ukrainian officials called for crypto donations, and the world has responded. Their goal was to get $200 million crypto donations, and they have already received $67 million.

“Today, crypto is playing a significant role in Ukraine’s defense.”

Well, for fans of “Fresh Prince of Bel Air,” Will Smith was obviously from West Philadelphia, born and raised because you’ve heard it in the opening song for the NBC hit comedy back in the early 1990s. Maybe that tough upbringing helped explain his borderline unhinged behavior at the Oscars Sunday night when he strolled to the stage to smack presenter Chris Rock in the face for making a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith.

Two big questions seemed to be on the mind of everyone who saw or heard about it, and one of those questions has an answer. Will Chris Rock file assault and battery charges against his fellow Hollywood star? It appears to be a hard no. At least for now. LAPD was inside the theater for the show and approached Rock’s team about it, but word is they refused.

Now the other big question; was it staged? Hard to believe Rock would agree to bring such a low-class moment to the biggest night for Hollywood, and who wants to get smacked in the face in front of tens of millions of people?

You figured it would only be a matter of hours before the publicists representing Will Smith crafted an apology for him, or maybe he watched the video of his actions and witnessed the reaction of most people who saw it and realized if someone other than one of the world’s biggest movie star did what he did to Chris Rock at the Oscars, they’d be arrested.

He decided to do it on Instagram, posting this message Monday.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

It is not a good time to be an oligarch. The entire free world is trying to remove every single multi-million dollar toy from their possession, and in one case, an oligarch believes a former friend of his was trying to kill him.

Roman Abramovich has gone out of his way to work with Ukrainian leaders to try to broker some sort of peaceful end to the war. Because of that, Ukrainian President Zelensky has personally lobbied Joe Biden to go easy on him regarding personal sanctions of assets and money he is holding in banks. On the flip side of this special attention one president is trying to get him, he and two Ukrainian negotiators were “blinded for several hours and had skin peel off their faces and hands” in a suspected poisoning attack.

According to reports in the Wall Street Journal and other publications, Abramovich believes he was poisoned a few weeks ago after a meeting in Kyiv where he was acting as a peacemaker in the war.

The happiest place on Earth? Not really. A group of employees at The Walt Disney Company who do not share the extreme far left and progressive political values of some outspoken employees sent an open letter to the company. In that letter, the employees asked that leadership not take political stances on issues that alienate a large percentage of workers and Disney’s audience.

According to Fox Business, a direct line from the letter describes the Disney work environment as “an increasingly uncomfortable place to work” for employees not in line with the progressives.

“The Walt Disney Company has come to be an increasingly uncomfortable place to work for those of us whose political and religious views are not explicitly progressive. We watch quietly as our beliefs come under attack from our own employer, and we frequently see those who share our opinions condemned as villains by our own leadership.”
