A 40-year-old man, Nardo Grant of Farm Pen in Savanna-la-mar was shot and killed at Belle Isle main road in Grange Hill, Westmoreland.
It has been reported that shortly after 2 p.m. Grant was riding his motorcycle along the roadway when he was pounced upon by persons travelling in a white motor car.
The attack occurred at a section of the roadway which was recently a State of Public Emergency checkpoint.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness (@AndrewHolnessJM) has questioned the opposition’s commitment to Jamaica and to tackling crime after their decision to block the extension of the SOEs in the Senate.
Holness said he was not surprised that the "Opposition senators could not find it in themselves to support a measure that would save Jamaican lives."
He asserted that the Opposition had made it very clear it would not back the extension of the states of emergency, regardless of the changes made by the Government to the regulations which guide operations under the measures.

Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr Christopher Tufton (@christufton) has described the Animal-Assisted Recovery and Care (AARC) pilot project as the programme that will be introduced at the Bustamante Hospital for Children during the Christmas season. #Jamaica #Health
He stated that the program will run for an initial 18 months, in which the children admitted to the facility will begin to receive animal-assisted therapy. The minister also introduced the pilot dog, a golden retriever named Dr Teddy Barks, as the brand ambassador for the project.
For now, Teddy, who was in the care of curator for the Hope Zoo, Joey Brown, will be the main therapy animal for the project.

The Constabulary’s Corporate Communication Unit has confirmed that a man was shot by a soldier in Kingston after he attempted to move a barrier and got into an altercation with the soldier.
Replying to @gchahal The man was shot in close proximity to State of Emergency (SOE) checkpoint. The identity of the man has not been revealed by the police but he is said to be known as 'Skillibeng' in the community.
However, the uncomfirmed reports state that the man attempted to remove barriers of the areas under SOE and got into an altercation with the soldier. He was shot during the altercation.

He added that during the closing time of the Gun Amnesty, the security forces will be intensifying the efforts to rid the streets of illegal guns and go after those persons in possession of these weapons,
... and with the Firearms Act in place perpetrators stand to spend from 15 years to life behind bars. He stated that there will be no extension.

The Jamaican police arrested two men following the seizure of a large quantity of compressed ganja loaded in a vehicle on a wrecker.
The wrecker was intercepted mid-morning Friday on the May Pen leg of Highway 2000, said the Head of the Area Three police, acting Assistant Commissioner Glenford Miller.
He stated that a wrecker that was carrying a vehicle on it was intercepted on the toll road by the Clarendon and the Area Three special operations team and narcotics team.
When the vehicle (on the wrecker) was checked, it was found to contain several packages of compressed ganja.

The Forestry Department (@ForestryDeptJa) has reported that more than two million trees have been planted under the National Tree Planting Initiative.
The initial target of the forestry department was three million for the distribution and planting over the project in three years, ending October 2022. However, the timeline was extended to March 2023 due to the pandemic.
The Forestry Department is also engaging the youths through the National School Tree Planting Competition, which commenced in September.

The Jamaica Constabulary Force ( @JamaicaConstab ) informed that the St. Ann Police has advised the public of a serious motor vehicle collision on the Laughlands main road.
A man lost his life, and several others were injured after a crash along the Laughlands main road in St Ann. Reports state that a Toyota Wish and a van carrying security officers collided on the busy thoroughfare.
The incident that occurred at about 8:30 am has caused a major traffic pile-up along the roadway. The Jamaica Constabulary Force also informed that the police officers are managing the incident scene.

Jamaica and the United States have collaborated on opening two new child-friendly places wherein the children who are victims of crime and human trafficking will receive assistance.
This initiative is a part of the Child Protection Compact (CPC) partnership in a US$6.7-million foreign assistance programme. The safe places will be located at Indecom’s ( @INDECOM_JAMAICA ) Kingston and Montego Bay.
These spaces offer a warm, welcoming environment for child crime victims, including for conducting interviews and providing assistance.

These unions represent approximately 60,000 employees. The new compensation system will be implemented for over three years with effective date from April 1, 2022, and will cost around $120 billion over the period.
The union firms include; the Nurses Association of Jamaica, Jamaica Civil Service Association, the Jamaica Workers Union, the Union of Schools Agricultural and Allied Workers Union, the Union of Public and Private Employees, the Jamaica Association of Local Government Officers, the Jamaica Midwives Association, the Council of Paramedics and the Bustamante Industrial Trade Union.

The inaugural flight arrived at the Norman Manley International Airport on Monday at 5:50 p.m. Arajet is an ultra-low-cost airline that will now offer customers two non-stop round trip flights per week on Mondays and Fridays from Kingston and Santo Domingo for under US$300.

Prime Minister Holness said that the government is increasing capacity and is changing how the NHT works to provide the masses with affordable home ownership. The government’s Howard Avenue Apartment is one such initiative under the NHT’s Guaranteed Purchase Programme (GPP).
With this the government has intended to create a suitable business environment for developers to partner with the NHT in delivering more housing solutions that have a positive social impact.

Government minister Everald Warmington (@megjc_jm) has condemned the protest by transport operators which left many Jamaican stranded.
Warmington stated that he did not support the drivers who amassed several traffic tickets and who now wanted a reprieve from the government. The operators across Jamaica withdrew their services as they demanded a traffic ticket amnesty from the government.
However, in response to the protest the Government stated that it would not tolerate lawlessness and urged drivers to pay their outstanding traffic tickets.

Dr. Chang informed that many of the firearms are from individuals who have not licensed the weapons for several years.
The gun amnesty is being facilitated following the approval of the Firearms (Prohibition, Restriction and Regulation) (Firearms Amnesty) Order 2022 by Parliament.
