Well, with our first feature film, Peffersburg, finally coming together, I'm happy to report that we started production on our next short Something Different About Fishmouth County. This is being directed by our dear friend Jess Myers Rigoni from Union Division and shot by our other, equally dear friend Jason Zink from Weird on Top Pictures. This isn't necessarily a co-production, but we're frequent collaborators, so if you're not privy to Union Division or Weird on Top, you should absolutely check them out! Really lucky to know so many talented rock stars.

Our page may have been idle, but we definitely haven't been. Summer of 2022 is going to see some big moves from Modern Travant Productions!

Dear Jackalope followers,

I wanted to take a moment to let you all know two things. First, we love you. Second, if you'll indulge me being serious for a second and have a spare moment, check out my partner in crime Malcom Claeys and give him a follow on Facebook and YouTube.

His channel isn't comedic or even related to indie film, but if you're fond of frank, honest, unscripted video content, I'm sure you'll be a fan. Right now he's working his way through the Proust questionnaire, and it's yielding some really thought provoking observations about life.

As the Grand High Jackalope, I feel beholden by my position to maintain an air of anonymity. However, if you'd like to really get to know one of the minds behind a number of the Order of the Jackalope's funniest projects, you should definitely check out Malcom Claeys' stuff and, if you enjoy it, give him a like and a follow; it's really hard to put yourself out there.

And, finally, for anyone that's wondering, we'll have more Jackalope content en route, soon. Lot of fingers in a lot of pies, lots of spinning hats, wearing lots of plates, so we have nowhere to put these goddamn fu***ng pies.

Hellooooo Jackalope Fans,

So, admittedly, it’s been pretty quiet on this page, but that’s only because of Peffersburg, our first honest to goodness feature length film (believe it or not, post production is pretty labor intensive). I’m happy to say, though, that we’re aaaaaalmost done with our first cut of the film, and when my basement office flooded on Sunday night, I was able to rescue every bit of my computer equipment that the film was on before the water overtook it (we got three stinking feet of water down there; it was a bad scene). The feature film is still 100% on track, and it looks fantastic.

I’ve also been doing a heck of a lot of writing behind the scenes (three features written this year, with one being produced, but probably not until next year). And there might even be some bigger news coming around the bend regarding OOTJ dipping their toes into bigger projects, but that’s still up in the air, and I’m not at liberty to really discuss details just yet. But, it’ll be really exciting if it comes together, and would assuredly lead to bigger and better things. Fingers crossed.

I just wanted to take a long overdue moment to check in with you, faithful friends and neighbors, and let you know that we’re definitely still cooking with gas over here.

Had a simply phenomenal evening shooting some re-enactment sequences for Peffersburg this evening with Mike Reinhart, Jeremy E. McShurley, Jakob Reinhart, Will Akins, and, of course, our dear producer and friend from AWS Films, Mr Alex Srednoselac! For some reason it isn’t letting me tag Alex, although as absurd as these sequences are, it could well be that he has blocked us on social media. Time will tell.

DESCRIPTION: Candy is the wife of the local reverend of Peffersburg, OH. She’s a bohemian type. Loves attending theater performances and has a PhD in history. You get a sense she’s a distinctive “creative.” Think if Professor Trelawney from Harry Potter shops at Whole Foods.

Well friends, I suppose it’s as good a time as any to officially announce that in June and July we will be shooting Peffersburg, OH, the feature adaptation of our award winning short, A Hungus Among Us! We are so excited to be able to share this with you all and that we have made it to this point. I did some soundtrack work with Maidhc Jones this evening, and it sounded fantastic! Anyone with an interest in being involved, let us know; there are many roles to fill and hats to wear, etc.
