CONNECTIONS

What are the connections between capitalism, patriarchy, imperialism and genocide?

When the wealthy landowners of Imperialist societies decided to garner the wealth of foreign lands that they did not own; they faced a predicament of sorts. How could they claim to be able to have rights on the lands so far away when they had never been to them?

They solved this with Papal Bulls like the doctrine of discovery and government legislation such as eminent domain. These rules created under law (rules of law) were used to justify the subjegation of foreign lands for the benefit of wealthy landowners.

Wars were fought to establish whom had the right to wield these powers abroad. The dominant nations of the time; England, France, Spain, Portugal, Holland followed by USA, Germany became the colonizers of these foreign lands.

The existing populations were subjugated along with everything else that was found or would be found.

The rule of law was established by those making the rules and the laws. Who could hold them to account? Nobody cared to hear or to ask that question as there would be no question as to who would be at the tail end of that.

Indigenous Peoples around the world have endured endless atrocities with little to no recourse for their injuries across centuries. Centuries that have seen the colonialist powers jostle for and cement their imaginary 'rights' with a severe lack of 'responsibilities' for their actions or lack thereof.

In today's modern world; people of society at large act as if people are not being bombed to death. It's no surprise to me because they have looked the other way while children were torn from their parents in order to 'deal with the Indian problem'. They have judged and condemned anyone who has dared step out of the imaginary lines society has drawn to remain inside of. They have sneered at and belittled anyone who has less than them and taught their children the same.

Be fooled no longer: The ones who do this and enable others to do so are your neighbours, co-workers and live in the same country as we do. They are the same ones who continue to vote in corrupt, inept and belligerent governments in order to maintain their standard of living.

If you want to know who the enemy is; look at their bank accounts, their fancy cars, pensions and pompish garb. All of it smacks of conformity to higher standards than anything the lesser beings deserve. Things like adequate healthcare, clean air and drinking water, nutritious foods, housing, transportation, childcare, retirement, free time for leisure. How could they afford that without us?

The rule of law does not apply to them because they are the makers of the rules and the laws. Either that or they conform to them and enable the atrocities being committed daily. Their enrichment and pensions depend on them.

As the rule of law does not apply to them; they can bomb, disappear and enslave us at will with zero consequences. By the time enough of us realize that, it may be too late. It may already be as we have let it happen again and again while remaining silent.

Who is speaking up? Where are the feminists? Where are the doctors? Where are the upholders of freedom? Where is the rule of law? It is waiting for you!

Where is the rule of law? It is waiting for you! It doesn't seem to apply to Western Imperialists.

Many people today are discussing interest rates as we see governments raising the limits on what can legally be charged. Did you know that throughout much of history, many cultures made usury or charging interest on loans illegal?

Modern societies have placed limits on it as a way of offsetting the effects of it on society. By doing this, they changed the definition of 'usury' to mean charging high interest rates. It's original meaning was charging interest. Since it's legalization, modern economics seem to be mainly concerned with how to manage society in regards to interest and how it can be charged.

Here is a great dissection on the topic of usury. From many differing points of view, it shows the problems that have been created with the legitimizing of the practice in modern society.

By merely limiting the amount of interest that can legally be charged; our societies started out by deferring the damaging effects of charging interest to future generations. As this was done centuries ago, we are those future people who are now reeling from the effects of a banking system that feeds upon those who use it.

What is the logical end of, "...The rich get richer and the poor get poorer..." Like a game of Monopoly where only one player can win: In real life, a few people end up owning everything and the rest are indebted to them for life.

Usury has been practiced for at least four thousand years. There is substantial evidence of intense criticism by various institutions and social reformers on moral, ethical, religious and legal grounds.

Back in the 2000's we had DaVinci's Inquest; a TV series about then Mayor of Vancouver who started his career as a coroner.

I suggest a new sitcom; Chip's Man, Sim. Chip Wilson, owner of LuLu Lemon and real estate developer is reportedly a great friend of the new Mayor of Vancouver. Now as one of Sim's first official acts of his Mayoralty; he has ordered decampments of homeless people on the DTES.

What is the connection? Real estate that is becoming available in the DTES like the Balmoral, Winter and Regent sro's would be more appealing to develop if all of the homeless were moved elsewhere.

BCGEU has spoken out about the harsh measures that Mayor Sim has ordered. Sim said it is a response to fire chief statement; months after it was stated in the press.

The City of Vancouver's ongoing forced, mass decampment of unhoused people in the Downtown Eastside (DTES) without alternative supportive housing in place is unnecessary and a violation of human rights. Since last week, Vancouver police and city staff have been actively dismantling tents, throwing o...

2021

" is a strategy that goes beyond dollars and cents—it is not just about decreasing police budgets, it is about reducing the power, scope, and size of police departments. It is about delegitimizing institutions of surveillance, policing and punishment, and these strategies, no matter who is deploying them, to produce safety. It is a strategy…to advance a long term vision of abolition of police through divestment from policing as a practice, dismantling policing institutions, and building community-based responses to harm, need, and conflict that do not rely on surveillance, policing and punishment.”

is about more than just municipal budgets. It is about ending austerity and investing differently: reducing our society’s reliance on policing, minimizing its impact on our communities, increasing safety, and meeting the material needs of our communities. That means that is not a call to replace police with high-tech surveillance technology or private security, or to invest other institutions of the state like social work, psychiatric institutions with the power to police our communities. It is saying that we deserve to keep our lives, and we deserve to live free from surveillance and brutality at the hands of publicly-funded institutions."

The defund movement shows the way to divest from violence and repression, and reinvest in safety and life-affirming services

This authoritarian society recruits and appoints racist, prejudiced people for a reason; to continue marginalization, objectification and exploitation of Indigenous Peoples, People of Color, disabled, seniors, the poor in so called Canada. From RCMP, C-IRG to judges and administrators these racist people are put in place to maintain the status quo and to not allow change.

is about changing these systems which threatens the people who rely on them for their enrichment. Supportive, caring services that can help people through crisis and become healthier are what is needed. More police and status quo, privileged gatekeepers of society is not the answer we need.

They were slammed for their dehumanizing treatment of Indigenous mother Cindy Gladue after her death. Now, they’re judges.

Secwépemc leaders and allies who have been standing trial now face potential jail time related to their opposition of the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion project (TMX) in the nation’s unceded homelands.

But hereditary chiefs and matriarchs remain unwavering in their commitment to protecting their territories, saying they won’t back down to “Canada” and its illegal jurisdiction under Secwépemc laws.

During two instances in October of 2020, a total of eight Indigenous and non-Indigenous land defenders were arrested for defying a TMX injunction order — both times, leaders had been holding ceremonies related to the water and land near the pipeline company’s construction sites.

Last week, four of the land defenders were found guilty of criminal contempt for breaching an injunction. Four others, facing the same charges, are scheduled to appear in a Tk’emlúps (Kamloops) court this week.

Secwépemc Matriarch April Thomas, Hereditary Chief Saw-ses, Billie Pierre of Nlaka’pamux Nation and Romilly Cavanaugh are set to be sentenced in February.

Thomas said she’s expecting to serve at least 20 days in jail, but isn’t feeling demoralized. In fact, she said she’s feeling energetic, noting that this is just the beginning.

“They know that all the people trust me and stand with me, so they’re going to do everything they can to destroy me. I guess jail is the next level,” she told IndigiNews.

“I’m not worried about it because the Creator put me here and the Creator has always had my back.”

Thomas said while in court, there was no acknowledgement of Secwépemc law or sovereignty. All the land defenders are self-represented in court, refusing to have a lawyer who has sworn allegiance to the Crown.

He displays an accurate portrayal of victim control; by playing the victim to those who are actual victims, he seeks to control them and the outcomes that could be part of society recognizing they have been victimized.

Invalidation is a poor coping skill because it forms a defense of denial in order to avoid feelings that may be associated with empathy towards others who may have been harmed.

The weird thing is that by denying the existence of others' pain; we exaggerate it as well as the effects it has. That exaggeration can actually make the pain much worse and make it spread. When all we have to do is hear anothers pain and acknowledge that we do; is it really worth the cost to deny their humanity that way?

This lack of empathy is what is happening to our world today: It is the cause of factions warring against one another, divisions among communities, manipulations by media and politicos, lying, cheating, stealing, broken homes, lost identities and heritage, generations of narcissists, entitlements and privilege at the cost of others who lack basic necessities. Yes, it really is that big. Believe it.

It is a trap as well and the only way out of it is to heal ourselves.

We need a Boomer's Dictionary because people today don't even realize what we grew up with!

I said, 'Living in sin' to somebody and they said, 'What is that?'

The religious and cultural norms we endured are hard to imagine let alone understand.

The Victim Control Dynamic may be the reason we experience a lot of drama in our own relationships. People tend to alternate between playing 3 roles (like a triangle) in relationships… Either the Victim, the Villain, or the Hero. In this dynamic, a person plays the victim to manipulatively get wh....
