Former SMC Commissioner to Contest Assembly Elections as Independent Candidate
Srinagar, Aug 26 : Former Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Gazanfar Ali is gearing up to contest Assembly Elections as Independent candidate.
Known for his dedication, hard work, honesty, and efficiency, Ali held several senior positions throughout his career including Deputy Commissioner, Director of Rural Development, Director of Handicrafts, Director of Social Welfare, Special Secretary to the Government in various departments, and Commissioner of Srinagar Municipal Corporation. He retired in 2020 as Director General, Youth Services & Sports, J&K.
Ali's influence extends beyond his administrative expertise; he is also a well-respected social influencer and political analyst with a strong following among both the Shia and Sunni communities. His charismatic leadership and energetic approach have left a lasting impact on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
In light of his reputation and strong community ties, Ali's associates and supporters have urged him to contest the upcoming assembly elections. Responding to this call, Ali is expected to run as an independent candidate from the Lal Chowk and Chadura constituencies.
His decision to enter the political arena is seen as a significant development, with many viewing him as a candidate capable of bringing positive change to the region.
Centre Approves Five New Districts For Ladakh UT
SRINAGAR, Aug 26 : The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has approved the creation of five new districts within the Ladakh union territory.
This move, according to government aims to enhance governance and bring administrative benefits closer to the people of Ladakh.
The new districts, named Zanskar, Drass, Sham, Nubra, and Changthang, will significantly improve local administrative efficiency and service delivery.
Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his support for the initiative, stating, "The Modi government is dedicated to creating abundant opportunities for the people of Ladakh. The establishment of these new districts will ensure that the benefits meant for the people reach their doorsteps and strengthen governance across the region."
"In pursuit of PM Shri Ji's vision to build a developed and prosperous Ladakh, the MHA has decided to create five new districts in the union territory. Concerns Raised Over Poor Arrangements at Seven-Day Urs of Nanga Baaji Mir Aatif Today marked the beginning of the seven-day Urs of Nanga Baaji in Malangam, Bandipora, with thousands of devotees in attendance. During a media briefing, Syed Shabbir Geelani retired ssp and also resident of malangam from 40 years harshly criticized the administration for the inadequate arrangements made for the event. He pointed out the lack of essential facilities such as water and temperary toilets at the Urs site, causing significant inconvenience for the pilgrims. " He said that when urs comes to an end on 11th Aug, Here every where you will find garbage and sh*t, which makes big impact on locals residing here. Syed Geelani also stated that despite repeatedly informing the authorities about these issues, no action has been taken to address the complaints. He emphasized that the lack of proper arrangements is causing difficulties for pilgrims, especially those traveling from distant areas, due to the absence of basic amenities. Geelani urged the government to immediately improve the arrangements to ensure better facilities for the devotees and to maintain the spiritual significance of the Urs.
*Three dead bodies recovered in Dal lake in Srinagar* Srinagar, July 27 :- Three dead bodies were recovered from Dal Lake area of Central Kashmir Srinagar district on Saturday evening. An official told that three bodies were found in Dal Lake at Foreshore road near Shalimar ghat. He said that bodies are of three women. He said that police have reached the spot and bodies are being taken to hospital for legal and medico formalities. Meanwhile investigation in this regard has been taken up.

Construction of Protection Wall Near Tragbal by BRO Allegedly Uses Substandard Material. Mir Aatif Bandipora, : The Border Roads Organization (BRO) is currently constructing a protection walls near Tragbal on the Gurez-Bandipora road in different locations and using low standards material . Talking to Roznama wadiye kashmir President of the Gurez Traders Federation Mohd Ismayeel Lone has raised serious concerns about the quality of materials being used in the construction. The President has accused the BRO of using substandard materials, stating that instead of the required gravel, they are allegedly using soil-like substances. In response to these concerns, the President has requested the Officer in Charge (OIC) Beacon to look into the matter and take strict action to ensure that such practices are not repeated in the future.
