Dumaguete City COVID STATUS as of April 12, 2021

NO NEW COVID CASES IN 2 DAYS; 5 RECOVERIES

The number of active COVID-19 cases has dropped to 26 following the recovery of 5 patients with no new cases reported for the past 2 days April 11 and 12, 2021.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla said that there are currently 26 active cases; 505 recoveries and 30 deaths from January 30, 2020 to April 12, 2021.

The 5 COVID recoveries are: the 47-year-old female resident of Barangay Banilad; 29-year-old lady from Barangay Bagacay; 79-year-old make senior citizen from Barangay Daro; 1-year-old baby girl from Barangay Piapi and 52-year-old employee of the provincial government and daughter of NEGOR-COV 1873.

None of the 168 Persons Under Monitoring seen and examined by the City Health workers manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI) while under quarantine.

BREAKING (updated 11:19 a.m.): A Dumaguete City-bound chartered plunged into the waters off Sinunuc, Zamboanga City after its pilots executed an emergency water landing this morning, CAAP area manager Antonio Alfonso confirms. The said plane had four persons on board and took off the Zamboanga airport at 9:38 a.m.

BREAKING (updated 2:19 p.m.): A Dumaguete City-bound chartered plane plunged into the waters off Sinunuc, Zamboanga City after its pilots executed an emergency water landing this morning, CAAP area manager Antonio Alfonso confirms. The said plane had four persons on board and took off the Zamboanga airport at 9:38 a.m.

All the persons on board are now safe after they were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard.

CAAP Dumaguete chief Mark Diamaoden confirmed that all the persons rescued this morning are residents of Dumaguete City.

The Dumaguete residents were identified as: Suramya Khanal, 28, Nepalese, a student pilot; Jyothis John Pulinthanam, 27, Indian national, aircraft pilot; Jemy Chacko Oomen, 34, Indian national, aircraft instructor; and Razel Bulay, 27, Filipino, an aircraft mechanic. | via Raffy Cabristante, 106.3 Yes The Best News Editor

CITY APPEALS TO NATIONAL IATF TO RECONSIDER 1-PASSENGER POLICY

Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo urges the national Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases to reconsider its imposition of the one-passenger per tricycle including the no backrider policy on motorcycles.

The Philippine National Police and Highway Patrol Group as enforcers of the policy must also take into consideration if the motorists and passengers have substantially complied with the objective of preventing COVID-19 transmission.

As an example, tricycles in Dumaguete City are bigger and more spacious than most tricycles in Metro Manila and urbanized cities.

Taking this into account, our local tricycles (pedicab) may be allowed to have two passengers at a time provided that a clear plastic will be utilized as a shield to separate each passenger and driver while wearing face masks as means to prevent infection.

While intention of the national IATF is to impose rules that will prevent the spread of COVID-19, Mayor Remollo also underscored the different situations and setting of every LGU that calls for varying and sometimes a combination of best responses to become effective.

JUST IN: Dr. Liland Estacion of the Provincial Health Office said in a press briefing Friday that the Bohol-based Negrense government doctor who tested positive for COVID-19 contracted the new coronavirus in Cebu City and NOT while he visited his family in Negros Oriental.

Estacion said that upon talking to the doctor himself, he told her that he and his two medical technologist colleagues from Bohol got the coronavirus after being exposed to a COVID-19 laboratory while attending a training in Cebu City.

: Deputy House Speaker Rep. Aurelio Gonzales has filed a resolution (House Resolution 876) calling on the Department of Education, the Commission on Higher Education, TESDA, and the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) to suspend classes indefinitely until a vaccine against the coronavirus disease 2019 is widely available.

CIDG ENTRAPS SELLERS OF OVERPRICED ETHYL ALCOHOL IN SIQUIJOR | April 14, 2020

CIDG entraps sellers of overpriced ethyl alcohol in Siquijor for allegedly violating provisions of RA 7581(Price Act) as amended by RA 10623 in relation to DOH- Department Memorandum. No. 2020-0144 dated March 30,2020 yesterday, April 13, 2020 on or about 3:50 in the afternoon.

Arrested during the entrapment in Barangay Dumanhog, Siquijor, Siquijor are Aileen Joy Padayhag 34 year-old, married and a resident of Barangay Simacolong, Lazi, Siquijor; and Laure Claire Dimagnaong, 34 yrs old married, and a resident of Barangay Tigbawan, Lazi, Siquijor.

Lead unit is CIDG Siquijor PFU, PIT-RIU7 and PIB-SPPO in coordination with FDA, DOH, RO7. Team leader is PCMS Constancio R Rosales III.

The initial transaction was done thru Online then followed by a joint entrapment operation- actual exchange of marked money and the gallons of ethyl alcohol.

Confiscated Items included 6 black containers containing 18 litters each of 70% Ethyl Alcohol w/ Moisturizer, PHP 21,000 “Budol” money, PHP1,000 buy-bust money and the Colorado, Duramax color orange bearing plate number ACS 285 used in the transaction.

The confiscated items have a total MARKET VALUE of P 25,800.00 ( P 4,300.00 per 1 gallon of 18 liters) and has a total value of P 19,872.00( P 3, 312.00 per 1 gallon of 18 liters) under the Price Freeze Order of the DOH.

40-BED COMMUNITY ISOLATION CENTER OPENS

City officials led by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the Inter-Agency Task Force COVID-19, inspected the community isolation center with 40 cubicles ready to accept Persons Presenting Influenza-Like Illness (PPI).

Mayor Remollo said that the center has complete amenities to serve the basic needs of PPI who will be monitored 24/7 by personnel from the City Health Office and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

Present during the ocular inspection are Vice-Mayor Alan Gel Cordova, Councilors Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Manuel Sagarbarria, Joe Kenneth Arbas, Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio Jr., Agustin Miguel Perdices, Bernice Elmaco, Roselle Erames and Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores.

City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla said that at present there is only one person listed under ILI without travel history but whose condition has improved but still subject to strict monitoring by the Barangay Health Emergency Response Team.

Nevertheless, Mayor Remollo is optimistic that if the public will continue to cooperate with the authorities by following the stay-at-home policy of the Enhanced Community Quarantine, the city will remain free from local transmission of COVID-19.
