This week, Kimberly and Ashley review Women in the Workplace 2022. It is the largest report in the U.S. and outlines everything you need to know about the culture of work as a woman.

Repost • Did you know managers play an essential role in shaping women’s—and all employees’—work experiences?

When managers invest in people management and DEI, women are happier and less burned out. They’re also less likely to think about leaving their jobs and more likely to recommend their company as a good place to work—which translates to higher retention and better recruiting.

Yet few companies recognize people management and DEI efforts in managers’ performance reviews. Companies are effectively treating this work as a nice-to-have—as opposed to a core part of a manager’s job—and this disconnect is apparent in how managers show up.

If companies don’t compensate DEI work, they risk losing women leaders. Click the link in bio to learn more about

Up on the podcast today - I get to have an incredible conversation with Dr Veronica about working motherhood!

Repost •
Society has conditioned women to be perfect mothers AND perfect employees. Some mothers are already feeling guilty for leaving their babies after their maternity leaves have been used up, and we, as a society, do not have to add to that unnecessary guilt.

Some mothers are in situations where they are needed to go back to work, most probably for financial security. Whether they like it or not.

Some mothers choose to go back with the hopes of career advancement.
..and for many other reasons. And that's okay!

Mom, you might come home to a messy home and not have the energy to pick up every little piece of whatever is scattered on the floor. It's okay.

It's about trying to find the balance (which, at times, will not happen) between spending time with your family and doing work, and when you can't, give yourself grace and don't be afraid to ask for help.

Today we welcome Madeline Reeves, Founder and CEO of .
She walks us through her life as a young, single working mom, her experience in tech, and the deep experiences that have brought her to where she is today.

From working at startups to Fortune 500s, Madeline never found a company that perfectly matched her mission-driven ethos. Instead, she became the boss she always wanted, built Fearless Foundry from the ground up, and grew it from a one-woman show into a dynamic, ever-evolving team of powerhouses. Her longtime goal has been to get resources into the hands of underrepresented founders. Fearless Foundry is her conduit for this, and for creating meaningful and well-paying work for other women. A born leader, she revels in developing business strategies alongside clients, coaching the team, and getting to work with humans she loves every day. If she’s not resolutely fighting the patriarchy, she’s probably writing, podcasting, or sewing clothes for her kids and dog.

This week Ashley and Kimberly discuss why breastfeeding IS NOT FREE. If we value the person offering the product as essential to the role in terms of providing the service, product, and time compounded by the fact that this is a skillset only achievable by 1% of the current U.S. population, we should be paying breastfeeding mothers approximately $97,027.80. With that said, breastfeeding is not free, nor has it ever been.

Everyone’s been discussing this question. Between the updates on LinkedIn to add “mother”… deciding if we should leave the gap or address the gap on our resumes due to lack of childcare in a pandemic… the amazing skill sets we’ve acquired from our job as mothers… Motherhood is relative to work as much as work is relative to motherhood and it’s time we normalize that. Why not have the one and only express her support for working mothers nationwide. The questions I asked were on behalf of all of us and she delivered the answer we all need right now.

Check out her response via the link (on YouTube!) in bio and in stories.

Motherhood has taught me to not look at failure as a some sort of scale of whether I'm good or bad mother. Quite frankly the scale does not exist for me at all.

I'm always learning in motherhood and when I have moments that I would like to look differently it's just an opportunity to learn. I'm no longer going to sit in failure as a negative because we all need opportunities to grow and we do not grow without trying. Isn't that what we are constantly doing in motherhood? Growing and learning.

Check out this weeks podcast as and I dive into some of our "failures" in motherhood that were actually not at all failures but an opportunity to learn.

The truth is yes priorities change but let’s not think of this as an obstacle. Embracing these priorities will unlock the opportunity for both employee and employer to gain far more. Working families deserve a different lens and as a result an employer will see far more clearly than it has ever in the past.

The future can look different as long as the support is aligned with the right vision.
