The Surge 2 - review of a great Dark Souls rival

The Surge 2 is Deck13's third attempt at creating their own Dark Souls. The first was Lords of the Fallen, which the language did not dare to call anything more than a clone of From Software games. Fans of the Japanese studio began to take seriously the efforts of the authors only after the release of the original The Surge two years ago: despite numerous rough edges, the project boasted a curious sci-fi setting and good combat. Well, the new The Surge 2 turned out even better: not perfect, but quite worthy.

Stygian: Reign of the Old Ones - Calling Cthulhu

The fantasy writer Howard Lovecraft has drawn a surprisingly rich world that is increasingly attracting game developers. The space for creativity in this format is limitless: Lovecraft left behind a huge amount of material and different combinations of ideas give rise to amazing, catchy things. And all this time, there was a lack of a real RPG about the phantasmagoric universes he invented - one that could be explored on behalf of heroes completely different from each other - with different looks, background, character and behavior in battle. Stygian fills this gap.

Crucible

The game came out in the format of a full release, but the feeling that the Crucible "sent to print" half-finished does not leave. The shooter has only two game modes, and their main mechanics is a banal capture of points with parallel destruction of creeps and an increase in the character's level. The set of heroes turned out to be meager, the interface is very controversial (for example, there is not even a mini-map), and the network code is raw, with unexpected disconnects in the heat of battle.
