For our final announcement of the day we are very excited to release: "The Cast" - a brand new show that will debut in the coming week- check out the trailer! This is a show with no true host. Every episode will be run by different people paired up from different regions; and they will be the ones running the show! The goal for this podcast/show is to bring people together who normally might never meet. This will primarily be focused on college/recently graduated players from different regions. It's named “The Cast” because every episode will have a different set of people; so the only question is will you join our cast of characters?

Here at Hoopside Chats, the goal was to find the best stories in quidditch. In this journey, we have been able to interview amazing people and produce meaningful content. And we also realized alongside the podcast, there were other things we were passionate about. So today there won't be a new episode release, however, it will be a day of introductions. There have been a few projects that we have been working on and we are excited to make public. However, as we grew we realized we needed help. To join us on this journey Dana Dixon has come on board as a producer! We are very excited for them to join us and can't wait to show everyone what we have been working on!

In the final roundtable in this series, we speak with 5 more players of color about their experiences playing club quidditch and ask their advice on how to create a more inclusive quidditch community. It was an invaluable experience and provides more great insight into how we can all strive to better ourselves. Thank you to all of the panelists who have participated in the past few weeks and to those who have watched, listened, and learned. We must all remember that change does not happen overnight and just because these roundtables have concluded does not mean we should stop talking about these issues.

It's been a few weeks but due to a successful job search and far too many interviews for an entry-level job- we are finally able to present the College Player of Color in Quidditch Round-Table. Hoopside Chats was a project that Naresh Edala and Keegan Remy-Miller started in order to get the best stories in Quidditch. Since we started, we have managed to interview some of the most interesting people in this community. However, last week we went silent. This was because two weeks ago, we saw the police murder George Floyd. This sparked protests throughout the world calling for an end to police brutality and an end to all systematic racism in the United States. The Quidditch community has not been immune to those calls and the time to address the racism that exists in Quidditch is now.

With this in mind, we didn't want to post interviews that were not reflective of the social revolution that was happening in our country. We felt our platform would be better served if we shared it with the black players in our community so that they can share their stories and ideas for change. From being reffed a different way to hearing insults on the pitch to having their own teammates make racist “jokes”, these are not the most fun stories in quidditch, but they are the ones that need to be heard the most.

This episode of Hoopside Chats is part one of three roundtables that Naresh is hosting to gather the stories, ideas, and perspectives of people of color in quidditch. Today we are releasing the Black Athlete in Quidditch Round Table. In this episode, we have 5 guests that have accepted the invitation to talk about the Black athlete in Quidditch. This roundtable discussion is designed to educate our community about the experiences these guests have faced in our community. The goal of all of our round tables is to educate and offer ideas on how our community can address the systematic racism that exists in our sport.
