Having clarity is an essential part of any goal process.
The best way you can set yourself up for success and gain clarity around your goals is to review the past year.
Regardless of what 2021 held for you, it’s imperative to take some time and review last year’s wins, figure out what you need to keep doing, what needs to change and plan your days around what matters most.
Follow these six steps to clarify your 2022 goals:
1️⃣ List those wins! Start from a place of gratitude by recognizing the things you achieved throughout last year. ALL wins, both big and small, personal and professional – make the list.
2️⃣ What needs to change? When clarifying your goals, you need to ask yourself what needs to change this year to put me in the best health of my life, have more meaningful relationships, be more successful, be a better leader, etc. Clarity around this helps you with the next step.
3️⃣ What needs to stay the same? Ask yourself what worked last year and what didn’t? What do you need to keep doing? This helps you know what to continue and stop doing in 2022.
4️⃣ Conduct a calendar review. Identify any gaps, holes, missed opportunities, wasted time, and roadblocks within your calendar, so you know where to recommit your priorities.
5️⃣ Review your daily schedule. Ensure your daily schedule supports your goals and sets you up for success. Is what I am doing today moving the needle forward towards my highest priority?
6️⃣ Review your week. Do you have the capacity in your week to achieve your goals? Too often, we stretch ourselves too thin and have goals, but we haven’t ensured we have the time to do what is required to reach them. Uncovering where you need to reprioritize within your week is a game-changer in making your goals happen.
By conducting a past year review, you’ll learn from last year’s wins and mistakes, achieving more success in the year to come.
Don’t forget to save this for future reference.
