Update on Solar.

Made a break through on Solar, the game that I have been using to learn on Unreal. After finally figuring this out I wanted to show this to everyone.

This is an early alpha shot of "Lab Island" probably not what it will end up being called in game. This might end up the second or 3rd level for CM-325 (main character) The very rough structure on the top right will be part of the lab. There will be a cutscene of CM-325 crashing into a helipad in one of several drop pods that is on the other side of the structure.

The breakthrough, was two part, I finally found ways to get really good FPS running the level. My computer is now able to run the level at a consistent 70 fps and my machine is not the best so people not on a laptop shouldnt have a problem at all now.

Second, and part of what this picture is for, besides showing the FPS, is I finally cracked the code for making textures lose the "tiling" appearance. This was kind of a tricky feat and took a ton of reading. The ground textures are now being multiplied with a new texture at different scales.

The process added almost double the blueprint code for the ground material but seems really worth the effort. I am sure that there are other people out there that have this kind of thing figured out already, though it was nice to get just a little bit better at my own process.

After some of the usual book publishing setbacks we face when dealing with certain platforms, Wolves 3, Wolves of War: Feast for Flies is finally online like it mostly should. (looks at a certain book platform sternly.)

I hope you take the time to check it out. I will eventually get to reading this one myself.

I'm working on some of my writing today, it is always easy to know when I should work on things like that.. because posts on Facebook happen.. my email gets cleaned out. Procrastinating my work has become an art in an art form.

Hopefully, everyone is doing well. Anyway, I am going back to work!
