The OutFit

The OutFit Follow along our adventures as we navigate a life on the road as a young family!

After completing the build of a 1983 ex-ADF Unimog 1700L which we travelled in around Australia for 3 years, we purchased an ex-military 1975 Volvo C304 6x6 in Sweden.

Goodbye thirsty, underpowered & stinky twin carb engine 👋

Shout out to the big dog!
Fear not, Bowser is having some well-deserved R&R back in Australia; awaiting our return.
Thanks to two amazing people in WA who are keeping an eye on him and regularly starting and running it in order to keep the juices flowing.

Bowser is mostly ready to hit the road for when we return (we think Oakley will still fit his wee baby bed area even though he co-sleeps with us anyway 😅).

There are definitely some loud cracks and pops coming from the front cardan joints on both front wheels but that is a big, expensive job that I think I will need a hand with but maybe they will last for another bout of abuse...

Now that we know it is unlikely that Bowser will do an international trip, I (Chris) have been running through some potential major mods in my head.. It would be really nice to have the habitat box at or near the height of the cab but that opens up a big kettle of fish.
Having a much lower camper means a total layout change and means the interior space would have to be much more Spartan.

That opens up the possibility for a hard-shell sliding pop-up camper or even a mega RTT conversion like with Skaði. High-end fibreglass (xpf/frp) panels are almost impossible to get in Aus without waiting years so my hands may be tied with that one.

If it was your truck, what would you do differently? Is Bowser pretty ideal the way it is built now for Aus (for a family of 3) or should things change?
NB: Buying a caravan is not our goal.

Did you know that Spain has some epic mountain ranges?

We had no idea until we started exploring this amazing country! We can definitely see ourselves living there one day 🇪🇸🍷

This is Picos de Europa and you must add it to your list 🙌
