From Parallel Action. “Behind the scenes” - I really wanted the video to ‘The Racket’ to give weight to Micheal’s words. Other videos I’ve made have focused very predominantly on the performer, but this one needed to be about reinforcing the message. Visually, I wanted to convey the anger and contempt in Micheal’s narrative. It feels very poignant and timely that ‘The Racket’ talks about masks and gags, in todays climate of conspiracy and mistrust of the government I’m sure there are those that will find their own interpretation of the lyrics. To me this track has always been about “brown nosing” the man, giving up on dreams to get a promotion and getting caught up in the system. Micheal doesn’t play that game and its that anti system energy that really made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when we first started this collaboration together.
