BET Awards 2020

The BET Awards is set to return this Sunday (June 28) to celebrate the show’s 20th anniversary. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, this year’s award show will be going virtual. But, we’re still bringing you performances from some of music’s hottest stars and A-listers on Black entertainment’s biggest night.

We wouldn’t want you to miss a single moment, so we put together a quick explainer of everything you need to know about this year’s BET Awards.

  • The nominees are stacked across categories this year, with Drake leading the pack with six nominations, including nods for Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Video of the Year, Best Collaboration, and Viewer’s Choice of the Year. Following behind him in a close second are Megan Thee Stallion and Roddy Ricch who each garnered five nominations, while Beyoncé, Lizzo, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, and DaBaby each scored four nominations.Competition is fierce for Album of the Year, with Drake, Beyoncé, Lizzo, Megan Thee Stallion, Roddy Ricch, DaBaby and H.E.R. all up for the coveted win.Additionally, there’s slated performances from Alicia Keys, Chloe X Halle, DaBaby, D Smoke, Kane Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Nas, Rapsody, Roddy Ricch, SiR, Summer Walker, Usher, YG, Masego and more.The BET Awards will also honor late NBA legend Kobe Bryant with a special tribute from Lil Wayne, and Wayne Brady will salute Rock and Roll pioneer Little Richard.
