Out today on Fog Arts: the first-ever release of Norwegian saxophonist Harald Gundhus' 'lost' 1993 album with Czech jazz veterans Emil Viklicky (piano), Robert Balzar (bass) and Josef Vejvoda (drums). Recorded in Drammen near Oslo, the album was recently found on an old hard drive, where Gundhus (1942-2007) had stored the seven tracks after mixing and mastering. It's a pleasing 43-minute romp through a selection of American jazz standards and Scandinavian originals which sheds new light on one of Norway's lesser-known, but very well-connected, post-war jazzmen. The first two reissues, Lonely One (2002) and Les Parapluies De Cherbourg (2005), will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, and all good streaming and downloading platforms worldwide from 6 August 2021.
