The Universal Treatment Curriculum (UTC) is used to integrate substance use-specific knowledge skills and evidence-based practices into the continuing professional development. It focuses on language translation and in-person trainings. This study describes and evaluates this process in the Philippines. Focus group discussions, post-online class evaluation and pre-test and post-test scores were used to gather the necessary data. Fifty two participants from 22 universities completed the online training.

Access to drug treatment in Nigeria remains low due to a severe shortage in the drug treatment workforce. The shortage could be handled by introducing drug addiction training programs in Nigerian universities. This research complies details on relevant documents and interviewing 15 lecturers who have been department heads for at least four years. Results show that program curriculum, teaching staff and facilities are essential along side informal advocacy for these programs.

Ukraine has been dealing with a high prevalence of HIV and substance use disorders. In regard to this public health problem the Ukraine Addiction Technology Transfer Center (ATTC) has been established in 2017. In its first three years of operation almost a thousand participants took part in at least one ATTC activity and 35 certified National Trainers have been trained. The two-year, multidisciplinary Master’s in Drug Dependence (MDD) at the University of Barcelona was created in 1986, after some years of offering shorter seminars. High-risk methamphetamine use is frequent in the Czech Republic and includes long-term injecting use.
