Today, we're highlighting the director of Se7en, David Fincher! In our latest Podcast Extra, our new hosts Rianna Jakson and Kiefer Callewaert, with special guest Joseph Torres, analyze Fincher’s Se7en, alongside Matt Reeves’ The Batman. Listen now on your favorite podcast platform!!🔉

David Fincher is an American film director and co-founder of the film and music production company, Propaganda Films. Se7en is one of Fincher’s first major films, which became Oscar nominated for Best Editing in 1996. Along with writer, Andrew Kevin Walker, this film also received attention from the BAFTA Awards where it was nominated for Best Screenplay.

In addition to Se7en, Fincher has garnered huge directorial success amongst his other films such as Fight Club (1999), The Social Network (2010), and Gone Girl (2014). He’s been nominated for 3 Oscar Academy Awards for his work in directing The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2009), The Social Network (2010), and Monk (2020). Along with this, Fincher has directed music videos for artists like Madonna, Sting, The Rolling Stones, Michael Jackson, Aerosmith, and Billy Idol.

Today, we're highlighting Matt Reeves, director, producer, and screenwriter of The Batman! You can listen to our new hosts Rianna Jakson and Kiefer Callewaert, with special guest Joseph Torres, analyze Reeves’ The Batman in the latest Halloween podcast extra! 🔉

Matt Reeves is an American film director, producer, and screenwriter from Rockville Centre, New York. Reeves directed The Batman from a screenplay by both Reeves and Peter Craig, based on characters from the D.C. Batman comics. This film has become the newest reboot for the Batman film franchise by Warner Bros. Pictures.

In addition to The Batman, Reeves has directed a vast array of science fiction films including the Planet of the Apes adaptations, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes (2014) and the later sequel, War of the Planet of the Apes (2017). He’s won numerous awards, including the ACCEC Award for The Batman and the Fright Meter Award for his film, Let Me In (2010), starring Chloë Grace Moretz, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and Richard Jenkins.

📣 Spotlight Series has returned! Today, we're highlighting our recent special guest, Edson Oda! You can listen to him in Season 2 Episode 3 "Nine Days and The Green Knight" with Emily Ko and Jacky Celestino!

Edson Oda is a Japanese Brazilian writer/director based in LA. Nine Days is Oda’s feature directorial debut which premiered at Sundance 2020. The incredible script which Oda wrote won him the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the film festival.

In addition to Nine Days, Oda has a huge body of work that ranges from short films to music videos. He’s won numerous awards, including the special Jury Award in the Seattle International Film Festival for his short Malaria which creatively utilizes and combines various art forms to tell a story.

🎙 "If you want to be a writer, write. If you want to be a director, direct. The scale, the budget of your film, those things don’t matter. You think they do, but they really don’t. Just keep doing it, and if something doesn’t turn out the way you wanted, do it again."
