3 Jordan Peele films. I’m excited to see what he brings us with NOPE! I’ll be the first to say I’m not a fan of the title lmao. But still super excited to check out the film. Do you think NOPE will become a classic like most of us in the culture consider Get Out to be? Always heard mixed reviews with US. What are your thoughts on Jordan Peele and his horror filmography? We’re so used to the trope of being the first to die in horror films that do not star us or aren’t directed by us. This is why we must highlight those horror films where we had the chance to control the narrative. These 3 films are from us. Starring us, Directed by us, and at times Produced by us. Spike Lee produced Tales From the Hood. We need more of that. Reaching out and reaching back.

Although Vampire in Brooklyn wasn’t Directed by a Black Man or Woman, the story came from Eddie and Charlie Murphy.

Beloved is an adaptation of the late great Toni Morrison’s novel of the same name. And idk about y’all but it had me scared sh*tless as a child, yet I was always still intrigued by the film.

And Bones was Directed by Ernest Dickerson and stars the legendary Snoop Dogg. Bones is the only one I don’t recall watching as a child, but I’m definitely going to revisit in my adulthood.

A solid support system is major key. Without it you might decide to give up on your dreams. All you need is one or two people to push you towards it. Once it happens for you many of those that didn’t support will show up after that successful milestone. Pay attention to who supports you. Who shares your post, always commenting or liking. Focus on those showing you love, not the ones who aren’t. Happy Sunday!

There’s so much more, but just a few quick tips.

Create limitations:
For your heroes, for your villains, and your world. And be consistent with whatever rules you choose.

Know the rules of the world:
It’s your world we’re just coming to visit. Whatever you show us/tell us we will believe whatever is logical.

Make us believe. I reiterate, it’s your world. Make us believe what you create. That’s the best thing about creating fictional places, futures, etc. all on you. Your choice just execute it well.

We can’t and we won’t be erased from the Sci-Fi genre. Often times we aren’t represented at all or there is only a one dimensional token. The narrative is changing daily, but it starts with support. Octavia E. Butler is a Sci-Fi Legend. A huge inspiration for many of us in the Sci-Fi and Fantasy world. Afrofuturism. We exist in the past, present, and future. Many Post-Apocalyptic or Films Set in the future often leave out POC, as if they do not or will not exist later. Octavia broke barriers. She walked so we could one day run! Thank you. We are the Wavy Griotz. Here to take you on an immersive audio experience through auditory storytelling. Our logo is the West African Andikra symbol, “Mate Masie” which translates to, “What, I hear, I keep.” These four linked ears serves to remind people of the importance of listening and communicating, especially in cultures of oral traditions. Since our enslaved Black American ancestors were not allowed to read, write, or even speak at times — we secretly communicated through songs that no one could understand. Our history couldn’t be written down so in a way…The Wavy Griotz are just returning back to our roots of oral traditions and storytelling. Welcome to all my Wavy G’z!
