Wade Laughter on Vets Chatting with Granny Lisa
Join "Granny" Lisa Kraft and special Co-Host "Military" Mike interview Wade Laughter.
Wade Laughter grew up as a member of a military family and moved around frequently as a child. While Wade was part of the counterculture in the 1970s, he did not engage in cannabis use.
In 1995, Wade was diagnosed with an aggressive case of glaucoma, and his ophthalmologist prescribed eye drops, but they made him violently ill. In 1996, California passed Prop 215, legalizing medical cannabis and Wade was a qualified patient. In 1999, Wade created a patientâs collective to provide cannabis medicine for a group of patients in need, as well as himself.
In 2008, Wade identified and shared the well known high CBD cannabis plant known as Harlequin. Wade took samples of Harlequin to Harborside, who sent it to the one laboratory in the area that could do an analysis. Harborside also put Wade in contact with Fred Gardener, who along with four other people, partnered with Wade to start Project CBD.
Today, Wade works as a researcher, educator and speaker on cannabis wellness topics, including cultivating cannabis for wellness products. Wade advocates for reasonable cannabis policy via his board chair seat at the Nevada County Cannabis Alliance and board membership with the International Cannabis Farmers Association as well as for patientsâ access to safe, clean, affordable medicine via the Nevada County Compassion Program.
Wade was recognized as a master cultivator by High Times magazine as early as 2008, as well as a key player in the CBD revolution in 2020 by the New York Times.

Granny will be interviewing Stephen Cochran
Eastern Kentucky born and Nashville, Tennessee raised Stephensâ musical influence began with his fathersâ music career. Stephen received an offer for a developmental deal at the age of 19 while attending Western Kentucky University; however, the terrorist attack of September 11, 2001 redirected the already established patriotism inside Cochran. Many of Stephensâ family members including his grandfathers and father served in the military and Stephen followed suit and joined the United States Marine Corps. Soon after, found himself part of the Elite 2nd Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion where he achieved the position as a scout team leader serving in the invasion of Iraq and as part of the 22nd M.E.U./S.O.C. B.L.T/16 who fought in the first push of the Helmand Province of Afghanistan. Ultimately, Cochran broke his back the last security patrol of that mission leaving him without the use of his legs with the possibility of never walking again. Determined and well motivated, Cochran did not allow the unknown to halt his goals.
Stephen impacted radio with many of the hits you know of him today (Friday Night Fireside, Thinkinâ Iâm Drinking, Pieces, Sheâll Thank Me Later, Walmart Flowers, and American Loser). âI was once known as the âGood-time, party guyâ and even embraced it with songs such as âIâll Drink to thatâ and âThinkin Iâm Drinkinâ, said Stephen and continued to say, "But those that knew me, knew I had a deep desire for a family. It wasnât until now that I met my wife and truly began to live that dream. I feel that my new music and direction my writing has taken will showcase that in my new EP".
