I’m voting today as a gift for a brighter future for HER—a future where she can thrive without the constraints of a world controlled by men and politicians who dictate what she can and cannot do with her body.

I’m voting for:

- Representation: To ensure that my voice is heard in the policies and laws that affect not only my life but also the lives of my neighbors and the broader community.

- Advancing Equality: I see voting as a vital tool in the struggle for gender equality. My participation can help advocate for policies that foster equal rights and opportunities for all.

- Influencing Change: By supporting candidates who champion women’s rights, I can influence important issues such as reproductive rights, domestic violence laws, and workplace equality.

- Setting an Example: I believe that women who engage in the voting process serve as role models for future generations, highlighting the importance of civic involvement and democratic participation.

- Harnessing Collective Power: When women come together to vote, we can significantly impact election outcomes, reinforcing that our voices matter and deserve attention in political discussions.

Ultimately, I view voting not just as a right; it’s an opportunity for me and other women to actively shape our communities and the society we live in. Today, I’m making my voice count for a better tomorrow.

Attention parents – did you know October is respiratory syncytial virus ( ) awareness month?! RSV is a highly contagious virus that can lead to respiratory illness for babies, including serious lung infections. While it often causes only mild, cold-like symptoms, it’s also the leading cause of hospitalization in babies under 1, including those who are born full term and healthy.

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Joining BeyForces Brunch hosted by in collaboration with Sanofi and to learn about the RSV preventative antibody, Beyfortus® (nirsevimab-alip) 50mg and 100mg Injection. Beyfortus helps give babies an extra layer of protection from serious RSV lung infection, which leads to 16x more hospitalization in babies compared to the flu.

Last November, Olivia received Beyfortus during her checkup because we wanted to ensure that she would be safe should she ever get RSV so it was so great to learn more about the technology behind it and be in fellowship with other moms during the beautiful brunch.

RSV can be unpredictable – and with RSV season about to start, now is the time for expectant and new parents to take action by discussing Beyfortus with their OBGYN or pediatrician and visiting Beyfortus.com for additional information.

🍂✨ Embracing Autumn in New York with at a deeply moving panel in SoHo. On the eve of Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, I had the honor of hearing powerful stories from and .with.cam / about their motherhood journeys. Their experiences shed light on the challenges many face and the vital changes needed for a smoother, more supportive pregnancy process.

As we recognize October as Pregnancy & Infant Loss Awareness Month, it’s crucial to amplify resources for women, especially Black and Brown women, who often encounter greater risks during pregnancy.

It was inspiring to learn from fellow women and pregnancy experts on how we can advocate for comprehensive, judgment-free care before, during, and after pregnancy.

🌟 Exciting news: New York State now offers free doula services through the Citywide Doula Initiative, ensuring every birthing person and family can access the support they deserve.

Ladies, what steps do you think we can take to ensure better pregnancy care for all women? 💬

Hello, New York Bridal Fashion Week! This week, we celebrate all aspects of love and marriage with designers reimagining the stunning confections that brides will wear to say “I do.” For plus-size brides, finding the perfect dress can be a source of anxiety, as bridal wear often overlooks larger bodies, particularly during the try-on process.

Every bride, regardless of size, DESERVES the opportunity to try on a dress and envision their big day, rather than simply holding a dress pinned against their clothes due to a lack of larger samples.

Bridal brands that cater to larger bodies have a responsibility to invest in grading their garments for extended sizes. This process requires a keen understanding of fit and proportions to preserve the style and design of the original garment across all sizes.

, led by a powerhouse of multicultural women, offers three labels under the Watters Designs House that cater to sizes 0-32W and grades their plus-size gowns. They also provide six shades of n**e lining for their gowns, ensuring that brides of color can look their best in lace and sheer designs.

I have always identified as a maximalist and a lover of vibrant colors and bold prints. As a Ghanaian, I’ve enjoyed a long-standing love affair with the rich hues of handwoven kente cloth and the vibrant Ankara prints that adorn ornate kaba tops and stylish slits for special occasions, as well as simple house dresses crafted from the remnants of my grandma’s and mom’s custom pieces. My affection for color remains steadfast, but in the past year, black has emerged as my primary sartorial choice. Therefore, I was intrigued when I came across a piece in the New York Times submitted by a reader asking, “Why do so many people wear all black?”

Since becoming a mother a year ago, I find myself standing before my wardrobe each morning, gazing at the vast array of fabrics in every imaginable hue. Yet, despite the spectrum of options, my hand instinctively reaches for the same thing: an ensemble of black. But why?

As new mom I choose an all-black wardrobe for several practical and emotional reasons:

1. Practicality: Black is forgiving with stains and spills, allowing me to navigate my day without worrying about my appearance.

2. **Versatility**: An all-black wardrobe simplifies getting dressed, especially in those sleep-deprived early days, as every piece easily coordinates.

3. Timelessness: Black never goes out of style, helping me look chic and polished without chasing fleeting trends during this chaotic time.

4. Confidence and Empowerment: Wearing black boosts my confidence and helps me feel more put-together as I adjust to my new role.

5. Mood-Boosting: Black has a slimming effect that enhances my self-esteem, especially important during the sensitive postpartum period.

6. Simplicity: An all-black wardrobe reduces decision fatigue, letting me focus on what truly matters—caring for Olivia and myself.

An all-black look combines practicality, comfort, and confidence, making it the perfect choice during this transformative period in my life.

Odo Yewu! On this day three years ago, we kicked off our wedding weekend. My heart is filled with joy and gratitude as I reflect on our beautiful Ghanaian ceremony that marked the official beginning of our journey together.

Incorporating my Ghanaian traditions was incredibly important to me, as it represents not only our love but also the rich cultural heritage that binds us.

My amazing bride tribe indulged me with an entrance dance choreographed by .

My incredible mom went all the way to Ghana - during a pandemic - to get all the custom made garments for myself and the bridal party.
