Canada increases Permanent Residence Fee
As of 9:00 AM Eastern Time on April 30, 2024, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will implement an adjustment to the fees associated with certain permanent residence (PR) applications.
This adjustment is in line with the Immigrant and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR), with the fee increase reflecting the cumulative percentage rise in the Consumer Price Index for Canada as published by Statistics Canada.
Revised PR Fee Schedule
The fee adjustments span across various categories and applicant types, as outlined below:
Right of Permanent Residence Fee
• Principal applicant and accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $515 to $575
Economic and Pilot Programs
• Federal Skilled Workers, Provincial Nominee Program, Quebec Skilled Workers, Atlantic Immigration Class, Rural, and Agri-Food Pilots:
• Principal applicant: From $850 to $950
• Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $850 to $950
• Accompanying dependent child: From $230 to $260
Caregiver Programs
• Live-in Caregiver Program, Home Child Provider Pilot, and Home Support Worker Pilot:
• Principal applicant: From $570 to $635
• Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $570 to $635
• Accompanying dependent child: From $155 to $175
Business Immigration
• Federal and Quebec Business Programs:
• Principal applicant: From $1,625 to $1,810
• Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $850 to $950
• Accompanying dependent child: From $230 to $260
Family Reunification
• Sponsorship fee: From $75 to $85
• Sponsored principal applicant: From $490 to $545
• Sponsored child (under 22 years old and not a spouse/partner): From $75 to $85
• Accompanying spouse or common-law partner: From $570 to $635
• Accompanying dependent child: From $155 to $175
Protected Persons and Humanitarian Considerations

Important Exemptions and Notes
IRCC highlights that certain applicants, including dependent children and protected persons, are exempt from the Right of Permanent Residence (RPR) Fee. Exemptions specifically apply to:
• Sponsored children under the family reunification class, provided they are under 22 years old and not married or in a common-law partnership.
• Applicants under humanitarian and compassionate consideration and public policy categories, with exemptions applicable under certain conditions.
Additionally, applicants in the “permit holder” class are not permitted to include accompanying family members within their PR applications. Each eligible individual must apply separately as a principal applicant for Canadian PR.
