March, you were fun. 🥳⁣ ⁣ If I’m being honest, I’m ready to transition to warmer weather though. 🤣⁣ ⁣ Shorts and sweatshirts is something I can settle for.. but rumor has it the weather I’m looking for shows up in May. ⁣ ⁣ Regardless, Vermont, thanks for a good first month and reuniting us with friends who live here! 🥰

It sounds naive to say we went in pretty blindly to this (our first) rental, but we did. ⁣ ⁣ I wanted to work in Vermont, it’s been a destination for us to visit for awhile, my rate was very competitive, we knew we couldn’t live in our fifth wheel (lack of campgrounds in winter), and we’re pretty desperate for an affordable rental that could fit our family. ⁣ ⁣ I was simply sold on it having a wraparound couch and a dining table that sat six.. there was a place for everyone in our family to be present with each other. ⁣ ⁣ The listing mentioned lakefront, but it didn’t click. ⁣ ⁣ There weren’t many photos showing the inside and certainly none showing the outside.. I’d say we settled going into it, but I think we were gently guided. ⁣ ⁣ This house is a gem to us. ⁣ ⁣ A little slice of paradise that we have a front row seat to.. I don’t know if I’ll be ready to leave here when this assignment is up. ⁣ ⁣ This place feels.. healing. ⁣ ⁣ 𝘞𝘦’𝘳𝘦 𝘢 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘪𝘹 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝟹 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘯𝘨 𝘬𝘪𝘥𝘴 + 𝘢 𝘵𝘦𝘦𝘯. We knew we needed a change. ⁣ ⁣ We wanted a change. ⁣ ⁣ We knew we didn’t want to keep missing out on time together. ⁣ ⁣ We got married and had a family to spend time together, not to let work, school, and extracurriculars take the limited time we do have away. ⁣ ⁣ Do we have to work? Yes. ⁣ Do we educate our kids? A few days later I’m getting around to posting this little update. 😛⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ It was, in fact, HARD to pack for six people for varying seasons of weather over the next 16 weeks. 😂 ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ We, also, did not leave that day as I predicted (the plan was to leave around dinner time & drive halfway). ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ But, we made it! ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ We made it to VERMONT late last night & are settling into a house now - our first time ever since we started traveling/travel nursing as a family - instead of living in our RV like we have for over 2 years. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Why? ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ There were no open spots at the few year-round campgrounds nearby & we are SO TIRED of paying astronomical rates for campground sites with no amenities, extra for our kids (usually have to pay extra after 2 adults, 2 kids), extra for the car, & extra (sometimes, not as common) for the dog. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I’m telling you, our campground rates for almost a year have been more than people’s mortgages. Heck, more than my mortgage even before we sold our home this past November. 🤯🤯🤯 We don’t stay anywhere extravagant by any means - definitely not resort like that might be even close to worth the cost. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ So, we opted for a furnished home with a reasonable price compared to what we usually pay for campgrounds. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ So far the kids have settled in & are liking the big living room… I’d say they like their bedrooms & beds too, but they aren’t using them like you’d assume. 😅 And, the verdict is out - even in a house my 3 youngest want to sleep in a room together. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ So much to share about

What did we hope to gain giving up our home & careers to travel? ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Time. ⁣⁣ Freedom. ⁣⁣ Flexibility. ⁣⁣ Exposure to new places. ⁣⁣ New ways of living. ⁣⁣ Quality family time. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I change jobs every 3 months which can require a lot of work to secure & our income is never stable for more than a few weeks to months at a time. I can have my contract canceled & I can have my rates cut at a moments notice. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We live in our RV 85-90% of the time. Other times we live in resorts that we secure through our timeshare company. Other times we stay with family. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ I was scared to let my home go that we had built, that we brought 3 of our 4 babies home to.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ My husband left his job as a government contractor almost 3 years ago & has been a stay at home dad since. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If you ask my kids now who the most amazing person they’ve ever met is - it would be their dad. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ They didn’t feel that way a few years ago because he was always coming & going from business trips or grinding away day to day. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Our American dream changed substantially over the years & now we focus on how can we find the best place for me to work but also for us & the kids to enjoy, learn, & experience new things.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ It’s so hard to believe it’s been almost 3 years since we started putting this new way of life in motion. Week 2 of @invisalign is here! ⁣🤩 ⁣ I switched to my second round/week of trays yesterday. ⁣ ⁣ I wear one set a week before swapping them out. ⁣ ⁣ I swear I’m already seeing shifting of my front tooth where my crown is (I’ve had a crown there since my teens from an accident I was in that broke my tooth). I was hating how my front tooth was protruding, but just thought that was how things were going to be. With winter storm Finn passing through and its effects in many states today have had us on high alert. ⁣ ⁣ We got a tornado watch around 6:45pm and decided we’d head to a hotel to play it safe. ⁣ ⁣ Our current campground has a few structures that may (or may not) be safe if a tornado were to hit but I don’t want to be running towards shelter in a warning especially at night. We quickly found a hotel 4 minutes down the street that was able to fit all six of us and our dog.⁣ ⁣ If we were ever to lose our RV I can easily say I would not mind as long as my family is safe. ⁣ ⁣ New Year’s Eve in 2021 we spend it in a hotel in Alabama while under a watch instead of our RV. ⁣ ⁣ I also am extremely nervous when it comes to storms and especially tornados. I really wish this weren’t the case, but it’s reality and it terrifies me. ⁣ ⁣ So, we are grateful this hotel has a kitchen that we could order dinner from for the kids and a bar that gave hotel goers two complimentary drinks. We will stay buckled down here during the night while the storm passes. ❤️

✨ Invisalign journey: day one! ⁣ ⁣ If you would have asked me if I was ever going to get braces, I would have said no. ⁣ ⁣ At least for cosmetic purposes. ⁣ ⁣ Cosmetically, my smile is crooked from a broken jaw in multiple places when I was younger and my bottom teeth have always been crooked. I didn’t think it was too big of a deal though. ⁣ ⁣ When I started having to wear a mask at work (never was good at it) I would hold my jaw in a really awkward position, like slightly open mouth with my jaw pulled back? I don’t know, but it was so weird. So much that my jaw would get stuck or would swing sideways when I’d talk on and off during the time period. It was so strange and so uncomfortable. ⁣ ⁣ Since then, I noticed over the last 8-12 months my jaw muscles aching so much that I would massage them to see if that helped. It didn’t. ⁣ ⁣ So, I got Botox in my massester. ⁣ TOTALLY HELPED. ⁣ ⁣ Around that time I noticed a crack in my front tooth - it ended up being a hairline fracture. I saw my dentist and he said my teeth are hitting in multiple incorrect places and it’s wearing the enamel down to the point it cracked my tooth. ⁣ ⁣ I’m also clenching a lot (noticed this progressing more leading up to the jaw aches/pre-botox) and and he said I’m wearing down all of my teeth because of that and the incorrect alignment of my bite. ⁣ ⁣ He told me this would only get worse and once I wear my teeth down so much there’s no going back - so he referred me to an orthodontist who immediately took me down the path of needing braces. ⁣ ⁣ We went 0-180 FAST! ⁣ ⁣ I’m not complaining though because once my Botox kicked in I could REALLY feel even more how incorrectly my teeth were hitting when I was biting/at rest. ⁣ ⁣ So, we’re on this journey, as I’m told for now, for the next two years. I’m now 4 days into week one. I have trays I switch weekly for the next ten weeks before I follow up to see how things are pr

How do we make every day feel extraordinary? ⁣ ⁣ By appreciating the little moments. ⁣ ⁣ By being intentional with those moments. ⁣ ⁣ It’s as simple as making a movie night feel a little more special. ⁣ ⁣ We made popcorn, had macaroons, German cookies, and dark hot chocolate… the dark hot chocolate was an adventure in itself. 2023 recap: WHAT A LIFE ✨🤩❤️

Sometimes we put our RV in storage and this is always the interesting part - finding a place to put it! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ If we’re visiting family for a few days, we just park it on the road outside of their house. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ When we went out of town for 2.5 weeks this December, we put it in a campgrounds storage section. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ We’ve also kept it at an industrial storage unit in our hometown before we ever took off full-time. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ For a couple of months when I had to come home to take care of my mom we put our fifth wheel in private storage - this was on a gentleman’s land that he opened up publicly for storage purposes. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Other times, we will just leave the RV in our site that we’ve paid for if it was affordable for a monthly site - this hasn’t happened in awhile though.
