Cancer sucks.
It is not lost on me that there are two true ways to be cured from cancer. One here on earth and one in a heavenly body.
For the last year we have walked this cancer journey along side my uncle who had a much more aggressive type of cancer than Charlie has, but they both shared stories, tips and celebrations of little milestones.
After 18 months of fighting my uncle received his healing in heaven. It’s been a lot to process, losing someone I love so much to a disease that has such a hold on our life. It’s a truth you know, a reality you know that isn’t far, but this is our first cancer loss while fighting cancer and it just hits a little different.

Spent the weekend thanking God that our summer gets to look more like this and less like hospital stays and doctors appointments.
Constantly reminding myself that although we aren’t done with this journey and we’re living in the in between that today is a good day. Right now is good and to rest and rejoice in that.
It’s hard to not what if and live in the fear of what could be and what the future may hold. The truth is we have no idea, the disease is not gone and there are still a lot of unknown, but again today is good and I’m trying to remember to thank God often for that truth.

Let me tell you a story about how stick notes and a poster board from dollar tree saved my homeschool year!
This is our second year homeschooling, but honestly our first because last year was nuts with a new baby and a cancer journey. BUT this year we have been “successfully” homeschooling 3rd grade.
After Christmas there were tears every day… and my son cried sometimes too! 🤪
I developed a system of sticky notes to allow him some flexibility and independence, as well as, keep me accountable for what needs to be done in the week to comes.

One year… the scariest day of our life.
So many thoughts, feelings and memories flood this last year. Someone asked me “is there much difference between 4 year old Charlie and 5 year old Charlie”
It stopped me in my tracks, 4 year old Charlie was sick… we’re just seeing him “back to normal” every day he’s a little more “out of the clouds” and it continues to shock us with how sick he really was, even though he conquered this year with smiles and laughter.
Thankful the year is over, heartbroken the journey isn’t, thankful that Jesus is still bigger than cancer just like He was a year ago.

Packing a 4 year old, mom, dad and a 5 month old for a week at the hospital/Ronald McDonald house is no joke!
If you’re looking for a great summer beach bag, overnight bag, Hospital bag, etc… these bags are GOLD!

It’s crazy how things change when things change.
Usually we celebrate big in our house, balloons, coffee, gift.. That’s usually how Mother’s Day looks
Today all I wanted to do was be in this hospital room. This moment was the best gift I could have been given. All 5 of us, playing a game, laughing over farts and trying to cheat…. The normalcy has become extraordinary.
I’ve also sat and thought about all the moms who are holding us up. My mom, the moms I’ve grown up with, the moms who are holding the babies and praying for mine, the moms who have made us meals, sent coffee, sent gifts, sent messages. The moms who have helped their babies make cards for mine, who sit with their babies and pray for mine. The “moms” I grew up with who are praying, caring and loving on my baby from afar. They moms who are doctors and nurses who are helping us navigate this. Those who are not moms who share their knowledge, their education and lift me up, encourage and strengthen me. The moms who have walked this road and are walking it with us. Thank you for “mom-ing” with me.

that can be a thing right?
The Space Force is currently wearing the Air Force uniforms. The differences are small and not all of them are mandatory currently.
One difference for example is their ranks on their OCP’s instead if gold they use brown and instead of black they use blue.
Their dress uniforms are the same, but one option they have is space force buttons. We put these on for promotion because we thought they were cool… what do you think?

What duty station do you DISLIKE the most?
Colorado Springs is a place I hope to never be stationed again. We are not mountain people, we really aren’t outdoor people, I didn’t enjoy the locals there, the weather was rough… I could go on, BUT when asked to write a few posts and send over some of my favorites I jumped to the opportunity!
THAT is why I made this podcast! No matter where you are stationed you can always find something good about it!

I just turned around to grab my planner because as much as I feel like the pregnancy and postpartum fog is lifting I have also had to reschedule my sons drs appointment 3 times because I didn’t have this with me!

Anyone else not want to recap 2022?
Was it bad? Not necessarily..
Was it overwhelming and exhausting… yep! Sure was!
I can’t even fathom putting together a “year in review” video because I have seen pictures show up that I can’t even comprehend happened this year.
Here’s to a slow year.
A year not talking about PCS-ing.
A year to enjoy where we are now.

I’ve spent the last few months trying to find the perfect photographer to catch the boys meeting the baby. I finally found one!
Things have not gone as planned and the photographer left town today & was unable to do photos.
But goodness gracious i couldn’t have capture this moment if we had planned it! These two big brothers are excited to have this one join the crew. 😍

The biggest question we get as a new Space Force family is “oh that’s part of the Air Force right?”
Nope!
The Space Force is it’s own branch.
So we’ll now say Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, Space Force, United States Marines.

This time last year we didn’t know if we’d be in the military today… BUT Jesus is bigger than the military!
Last year my husband threw his name in for a transfer to Space Force and got accepted. It’s been a year of paper work, waiting, more paper work and more waiting!
3 weeks ago everything finally came through 100% approved & with official orders. He will officially commission into the space force at the end of the month. We are so excited for this adventure, so much unknown if what the job involves and what our life will look like now, but I’m so excited to be on this adventure with him!

Expectations vs Reality
- I had the expectation that we’d have this really cute announcement about all the crazy changes we’ve been going through this last 6 months, but the reality is we got all the official thumbs up 3 weeks ago and I didn’t have time or energy to do it.
- I had the expectation that I would do really cute “redo” pictures of our first night in our home on our last night, but the reality was everyone was grumpy and tired. Plus I can’t even find the pictures from our first night.
- I had the expectation that we’d be fun PCS parents, but the reality is the last 3 weeks have felt like an S-storm instead of a dream.
- the expectations are hard, especially when you watch everyone doing it “perfectly” on social media, but this is our reality.
We have 3 more nights in a hotel that is extremely small & 4 more days until we get an afternoon to regroup and become “fun vacation” mom and dad not “overly tired and stressed PCS mom and dad” 🤣🤣
If you’re in the same spot, just remember Jesus is bigger than the military and he’ll get us through this too!
