So recently I saw a quote that said “ God’s word is meant to be daily bread not cake for special occasions”. 🍞 🍰
I’m sure you’ve seen this quote somewhere or heard it before, but this quote really convicted me. I realized that a lot of us have been treating the Bible as “cake”.
Just like how we eat cakes on birthdays, or celebrations, some of us only read our Bible at church on Sunday mornings, or on Wednesday nights. Other times we may just never open our Bibles.
Friends, the Word of God is meant to be read everyday. The Bible is meant to be our daily bread. As Christians we read our Bible to get to know more about the Lord, and to grow in our relationship with him. If we don’t read our Bibles, it’s hard to grow our relationship with him.
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path”.
The Bible is like a lamp in this dark world. Just like you need a light to see in the dark, we need the Bible as a light of hope in the midst of this dark world.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work”.
The Bible is like our tool box. It equips us for everything we will face in this life even the toughest of battles.
Matthew 4:4
Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’
We not only need food to survive, we also need God and his word. Going back to what I mentioned previously, his word equips us, and is our guiding light in this dark world.
Joshua 1:8
“Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips;meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful”.
We need God’s word at all times. By reading God’s word, we will be able to be more and more like Jesus each & everyday.
