Ebrahim Raisi (born December 14, 1960, Mashhad, Iran—died May 19, 2024, near U*i, Iran) was president of Iran (2021–24) before his sudden death in a helicopter crash. The unpopular prosecutor—called the “Butcher of Tehrān” for his role in the ex*****on of thousands of political prisoners in 1988—was thrust to power by the clerical establishment as a potential successor to Ali Khamenei, Iran’s aging leader. He was one of the few figures trusted by hard-liners in both the clerical and security establishments, but his career proved emblematic of the corruption of the Islamic Republic and the suffering of the Iranian people. During his short presidency, the disconnect between the regime and the people erupted following the death of Jina Mahsa Amini in 2022 with the wide-reaching “Woman, Life, Freedom” protests that bordered on revolutionary.

سَبِّحِ اسۡمَ رَبِّکَ الۡاَعۡلَی ۙ﴿۱﴾
1. اپنے رب کے نام کی تسبیح کریں جو سب سے بلند ہےo
1. Glorify the Name of your Lord, the Most High,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 1)

الَّذِیۡ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰی ۪ۙ﴿۲﴾
2. جس نے (کائنات کی ہر چیز کو) پیدا کیا پھر اسے (جملہ تقاضوں کی تکمیل کے ساتھ) درست توازن دیاo
2. He Who has created (everything in the universe) and then (fulfilling all requisites) equipoised it to its exact proportion,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 2)

وَ الَّذِیۡ قَدَّرَ فَہَدٰی ۪ۙ﴿۳﴾
3. اور جس نے (ہر ہر چیز کے لئے) قانون مقرر کیا پھر (اسے اپنے اپنے نظام کے مطابق رہنے اور چلنے کا) راستہ بتایاo
3. And He Who has determined law, and guided (it to its) way (of sustaining and functioning according to its respective system),
(al-A‘la, 87 : 3)

وَ الَّذِیۡۤ اَخۡرَجَ الۡمَرۡعٰی ۪ۙ﴿۴﴾
4. اور جس نے (زمین سے) چارہ نکالاo
4. And He Who has brought forth green pasture (from the earth),
(al-A‘la, 87 : 4)

فَجَعَلَہٗ غُثَآءً اَحۡوٰی ؕ﴿۵﴾
5. پھر اسے سیاہی مائل خشک کردیاo
5. And then made it blackened stubble.
(al-A‘la, 87 : 5)

سَنُقۡرِئُکَ فَلَا تَنۡسٰۤی ۙ﴿۶﴾
6. (اے حبیبِ مکرّم!) ہم آپ کو خود (ایسا) پڑھائیں گے کہ آپ (کبھی) نہیں بھولیں گےo
6. (O Esteemed Beloved!) We shall teach you (in a way) that nothing will you (ever) forget,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 6)

اِلَّا مَا شَآءَ اللّٰہُ ؕ اِنَّہٗ یَعۡلَمُ الۡجَہۡرَ وَ مَا یَخۡفٰی ؕ﴿۷﴾
7. مگر جو اللہ چاہے، بیشک وہ جہر اور خفی (یعنی ظاہر و پوشیدہ اور بلند و آہستہ) سب باتوں کو جانتا ہےo
7. Except what Allah wills. Indeed, He knows all, the manifest as well as the hidden (i.e., open to human perception as well as veiled from it, and the audible and the inaudible).
(al-A‘la, 87 : 7)

وَ نُیَسِّرُکَ لِلۡیُسۡرٰی ۚ﴿ۖ۸﴾
8. اور ہم آپ کو اس آسان (شریعت پر عمل پیرا ہونے) کے لئے (بھی) سہولت فراہم فرمائیں گےo
8. And We shall (also) facilitate you (to put into practice this) easy (law).
(al-A‘la, 87 : 8)

فَذَکِّرۡ اِنۡ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّکۡرٰی ؕ﴿۹﴾
9. پس آپ نصیحت فرماتے رہیے بشرطیکہ نصیحت (سننے والوں کو) فائدہ دےo
9. So keep admonishing, provided admonition benefits (the listeners).
(al-A‘la, 87 : 9)

سَیَذَّکَّرُ مَنۡ یَّخۡشٰی ﴿ۙ۱۰﴾
10. البتہ وہی نصیحت قبول کرے گا جو اللہ سے ڈرتا ہوگاo
10. But only he who fears (Allah) will accept the admonition.
(al-A‘la, 87 : 10)

وَ یَتَجَنَّبُہَا الۡاَشۡقَی ﴿ۙ۱۱﴾
11. اور بدبخت اس (نصیحت) سے پہلو تہی کرے گاo
11. And the wretched one will avoid and evade it,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 11)
الَّذِیۡ یَصۡلَی النَّارَ الۡکُبۡرٰی ﴿ۚ۱۲﴾
12. جو (قیامت کے دن) سب سے بڑی آگ میں داخل ہوگاo
12. He who will enter the greatest Fire (on the Day of Judgment).
(al-A‘la, 87 : 12)

ثُمَّ لَا یَمُوۡتُ فِیۡہَا وَ لَا یَحۡیٰی ﴿ؕ۱۳﴾
13. پھر وہ اس میں نہ مرے گا اور نہ جیئے گاo
13. Then he will neither die nor live in it.
(al-A‘la, 87 : 13)
قَدۡ اَفۡلَحَ مَنۡ تَزَکّٰی ﴿ۙ۱۴﴾
14. بیشک وہی بامراد ہوا جو (نفس کی آفتوں اور گناہ کی آلودگیوں سے) پاک ہوگیاo
14. Indeed, only he who is purified (from the afflictions of his ill-commanding self and pollution of sins) will triumph,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 14)
وَ ذَکَرَ اسۡمَ رَبِّہٖ فَصَلّٰی ﴿ؕ۱۵﴾
15. اور وہ اپنے رب کے نام کا ذکر کرتا رہا اور (کثرت و پابندی سے) نماز پڑھتا رہاo
15. And the one who remembers the Name of his Lord and offers Prayers (regularly and abundantly).
(al-A‘la, 87 : 15)

بَلۡ تُؤۡثِرُوۡنَ الۡحَیٰوۃَ الدُّنۡیَا ﴿۫ۖ۱۶﴾
16. بلکہ تم (اللہ کی طرف رجوع کرنے کی بجائے) دنیاوی زندگی (کی لذتوں) کو اختیار کرتے ہوo
16. Yet you go for (the pleasures of) the worldly life (instead of turning towards Allah),
(al-A‘la, 87 : 16)

وَ الۡاٰخِرَۃُ خَیۡرٌ وَّ اَبۡقٰی ﴿ؕ۱۷﴾
17. حالانکہ آخرت (کی لذت و راحت) بہتر اور ہمیشہ باقی رہنے والی ہےo
17. Whereas (the comfort and pleasure of) the Hereafter is preferable and everlasting.
(al-A‘la, 87 : 17)
اِنَّ ہٰذَا لَفِی الصُّحُفِ الۡاُوۡلٰی ﴿ۙ۱۸﴾
18. بیشک یہ (تعلیم) اگلے صحیفوں میں (بھی مذکور) ہےo
18. Indeed, this (enlightenment) is (also contained) in earlier scriptures,
(al-A‘la, 87 : 18)
صُحُفِ اِبۡرٰہِیۡمَ وَ مُوۡسٰی ﴿٪۱۹﴾
19. (جو) ابراہیم اور موسٰی (علیہما السلام) کے صحائف ہیںo
19. The scriptures of Ibrahim (Abraham) and Musa (Moses).

الم
الف، لام، میم (حقیقی معنی اﷲ اور رسول صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم ہی بہتر جانتے ہیں)،
31:2
تِلْكَ آيَاتُ الْكِتَابِ الْحَكِيمِ
یہ حکمت والی کتاب کی آیتیں ہیں،
31:3
هُدًى وَرَحْمَةً لِلْمُحْسِنِينَ
جو نیکوکاروں کے لئے ہدایت اور رحمت ہے،
31:4
الَّذِينَ يُقِيمُونَ الصَّلَاةَ وَيُؤْتُونَ الزَّكَاةَ وَهُمْ بِالْآخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوقِنُونَ
جو لوگ نماز قائم کرتے ہیں اور زکوٰۃ دیتے ہیں اور وہ لوگ جو آخرت پر یقین رکھتے ہیں،
31:5
أُولَٰئِكَ عَلَىٰ هُدًى مِنْ رَبِّهِمْ ۖ وَأُولَٰئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ
یہی لوگ اپنے رب کی طرف سے ہدایت پر ہیں اور یہی لوگ ہی فلاح پانے والے ہیں،
31:6
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ يَشْتَرِي لَهْوَ الْحَدِيثِ لِيُضِلَّ عَنْ سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَيَتَّخِذَهَا هُزُوًا ۚ أُولَٰئِكَ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ
اور لوگوں میں سے کچھ ایسے بھی ہیں جو بیہودہ کلام خریدتے ہیں تاکہ بغیر سوجھ بوجھ کے لوگوں کو اﷲ کی راہ سے بھٹکا دیں اور اس (راہ) کا مذاق اڑائیں، ان ہی لوگوں کے لئے رسوا کن عذاب ہے،
31:7
وَإِذَا تُتْلَىٰ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسْتَكْبِرًا كَأَنْ لَمْ يَسْمَعْهَا كَأَنَّ فِي أُذُنَيْهِ وَقْرًا ۖ فَبَشِّرْهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
اور جب اس پر ہماری آیتیں پڑھ کر سنائی جاتی ہیں تو وہ غرور کرتے ہوئے منہ پھیر لیتا ہے گویا اس نے انہیں سنا ہی نہیں، جیسے اس کے کانوں میں (بہرے پن کی) گرانی ہے، سو آپ اسے دردناک عذاب کی خبر سنا دیں،

وَاِذۡ قَالَ اللّٰهُ يٰعِيۡسَى ابۡنَ مَرۡيَمَ ءَاَنۡتَ قُلۡتَ لِلنَّاسِ اتَّخِذُوۡنِىۡ وَاُمِّىَ اِلٰهَيۡنِ مِنۡ دُوۡنِ اللّٰهِ​ؕ قَالَ سُبۡحٰنَكَ مَا يَكُوۡنُ لِىۡۤ اَنۡ اَقُوۡلَ مَا لَـيۡسَ لِىۡ بِحَقٍّ​ؕ اِنۡ كُنۡتُ قُلۡتُهٗ فَقَدۡ عَلِمۡتَهٗ​ؕ تَعۡلَمُ مَا فِىۡ نَفۡسِىۡ وَلَاۤ اَعۡلَمُ مَا فِىۡ نَفۡسِكَ​ؕ اِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ عَلَّامُ الۡغُيُوۡبِ‏ 
(5:116) And imagine when thereafter Allah will say: 'Jesus, son of Mary, did you say to people: "Take me and my mother for gods beside Allah?"130 and he will answer: "Glory to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right to. Had I said so, You would surely have known it. You know all what is within my mind whereas I do not know what is within Yours. You, indeed You, know fully all that is beyond the reach of human perception.
130. The Christians were not content merely with deifying Jesus and the Holy Spirit. They even turned Mary, the mother of Jesus, into a full-fledged object of worship. The Bible does not contain even the remotest suggestion that Mary was in any way either divine or superhuman. During the first three centuries after the Messiah, such a concept was totally alien to Christian thinking. Towards the end of the third century of the Christian era, however, some theologians of Alexandria employed, for the first time, the expression 'Mother of God' in connection with Mary. Subsequently, belief in Mary's divinity and the practice of Mariolatry began to spread among Christians. Even then, however, the Church was not prepared to accord official approval to this belief and denounced the Mariolaters as heretics. It was not until the Council of Ephesus in 431 that the Church officially used the expression 'Mother of God' for Mary. The result was that Mariolatry began to spread fast within the Church itself, so much so that, by the time of the revelation of the Qur'an, Mary had become so important a deity that she obscured even the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Statues of Mary adorned the cathedrals. She became the object of rites and worship. People addressed their prayers to her. She was regarded as the one who responded to people's supplications, who heeded people's grievances and complaints, who relieved them in distress, who provided support and succour to the helpless. For a devout Christian there could be no greater source of comfort and inner strength than the belief that he enjoyed the support and patronage of the 'Mother of God'. In the preamble of his code, Justinian had declared Mary to be the defender and supporter of his empire, and his general, Marses, sought Mary's guidance on the battlefield. Heraclius, a contemporary of the Prophet (peace be on him), had a picture of Mary on his standard and he was confident that by her grace the standard would never be lowered. Several centuries later the Protestants argued strongly against Mariolatry during the movement which led to the Reformation. The Roman Catholic Church has, nevertheless, managed so far to cling to Mariolatry in one form or another.

مَا قُلۡتُ لَهُمۡ اِلَّا مَاۤ اَمَرۡتَنِىۡ بِهٖۤ اَنِ اعۡبُدُوا اللّٰهَ رَبِّىۡ وَرَبَّكُمۡ​ۚ وَكُنۡتُ عَلَيۡهِمۡ شَهِيۡدًا مَّا دُمۡتُ فِيۡهِمۡ​ۚ فَلَمَّا تَوَفَّيۡتَنِىۡ كُنۡتَ اَنۡتَ الرَّقِيۡبَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ​ؕ وَاَنۡتَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ شَهِيۡدٌ‏
(5:117) I said to them nothing except what You commanded me, that is: 'Serve Allah, my Lord and your Lord.' I watched over them as long as I remained among them; and when You did recall me, then You Yourself became the Watcher over them. Indeed, You are Witness over everything.
اِنۡ تُعَذِّبۡهُمۡ فَاِنَّهُمۡ عِبَادُكَ​ۚ وَاِنۡ تَغۡفِرۡ لَهُمۡ فَاِنَّكَ اَنۡتَ الۡعَزِيۡزُ الۡحَكِيۡمُ‏
(5:118) If You chastise them, they are Your servants; and if You forgive them, You are the All-Mighty, the All-Wise."'
قَالَ اللّٰهُ هٰذَا يَوۡمُ يَـنۡفَعُ الصّٰدِقِيۡنَ صِدۡقُهُمۡ​ؕ لَهُمۡ جَنّٰتٌ تَجۡرِىۡ مِنۡ تَحۡتِهَا الۡاَنۡهٰرُ خٰلِدِيۡنَ فِيۡهَاۤ اَبَدًا​ ؕ رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَنۡهُمۡ وَرَضُوۡا عَنۡهُ​ ؕ ذٰ لِكَ الۡـفَوۡزُ الۡعَظِيۡمُ‏
(5:119) Thereupon Allah will say: 'This day truthfulness shall profit the truthful. For them are Gardens beneath which rivers flow. There they will abide for ever. Allah is well- pleased with them, and they well-pleased with Allah. That indeed is the mighty triumph.'
لِلّٰهِ مُلۡكُ السَّمٰوٰتِ وَالۡاَرۡضِ وَمَا فِيۡهِنَّ​ ؕ وَهُوَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَىۡءٍ قَدِيۡرٌ
(5:120) To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them and He has full power over everything.

21. وَتَذَرُونَ الْآخِرَةَ
22. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ نَاضِرَةٌ
23. إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةٌ
24. وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ بَاسِرَةٌ
25. تَظُنُّ أَنْ يُفْعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةٌ
26. كَلَّا إِذَا بَلَغَتِ التَّرَاقِيَ
27. وَقِيلَ مَنْ ۜ رَاقٍ
28. وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ الْفِرَاقُ
29. وَالْتَفَّتِ السَّاقُ بِالسَّاقِ
30. إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ يَوْمَئِذٍ الْمَسَاقُ
31. فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ
32. وَلَٰكِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ
33. ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰ أَهْلِهِ يَتَمَطَّىٰ
34. أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
35. ثُمَّ أَوْلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوْلَىٰ
36. أَيَحْسَبُ الْإِنْسَانُ أَنْ يُتْرَكَ سُدًى

﴿1﴾ يٰۤاَيُّهَا الۡمُزَّمِّلُۙ‏

ترجمہ : اے (محمدﷺ) جو کپڑے میں لپٹ رہے ہو

O thou wrapped up in thy raiment!

﴿2﴾ قُمِ الَّيۡلَ اِلَّا قَلِيۡلاًۙ‏

ترجمہ : رات کو قیام کیا کرو مگر تھوڑی سی رات

Keep vigil the night long, save a little -

﴿3﴾ نِّصۡفَهٗۤ اَوِ انْقُصۡ مِنۡهُ قَلِيۡلاًۙ‏

ترجمہ : (قیام) آدھی رات (کیا کرو)

A half thereof, or abate a little thereof
