Hello Linguists!
Today I bring you the second part of movies’ recommendations for or :) Have a perfect monday night!

1) La niña de tus ojos (1998): A spanish movie, winner of 7/18 nominations of , where a group of spanish filmmakers were invited to Germany during IIWW, to shoot the German-Spanish version of the musical drama La niña de tus ojos at the UFA studios in Berlin. In this movie, Carmina, the main character, will develop the role of an interpreter that gets involved in humorous and embarrassing situations in the making of the movie.
2) Desert Flower (2009):Waris Dirie plays a woman who escapes from Somalia to work in London. She constantly changes jobs and in one of them, while she is working at the hospital she comes across a Somali translator who was giving personal opinions instead of translating what she says.
3) Zero Dark Thirty (2012): Why watching a movie with only one interpreter when there is a movie where you can find A LOT. Yes, this movie about the intelligence work finding and that ends in the killing of Osama Bin Laden, is actually about how important and hard is this job of intelligence and how accurate does interpretation and translation has to be, in extreme situations.
4) Babel (2006): Iñarritú is a genius. That’s it. This film, winner of the Golden Globe, narrates three intertwined stories which take place in Japan, US and Morocco. Four languages, language barriers and communication skills are going to make this movie an interesting addition to you collection.

Let’s get into the spirit of St. Patrick’s Day and see if you knew these shocking about this particular (Catholic) holiday 🧐❓
☘ It is said that St. Patrick uses the green three-leaf clover as a representation of the -Catholic- Holy Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The use and association of this plant with Irish culture made it become a symbol of emerging Irish nationalism. There is also a tradition to let fall a shamrock in the last meal or drink of your day (to ensure prosperity) called “drowning shamrock”
🎩 There are records proving that the very first parade organized for this Christian holiday was held in 1601 in a Spanish colony in what is now St. Augustine, Florida. In 2020, for the first time, the parades of city and were canceled or postponed for the first time in decades or postponed due to the outbreak of
🍻 Food, drinks, what we wear, EVEN THE RIVER are all GREEN. Ok this is not shocking, but do you know why? Fun fact is that Saint Patrick is actually tied to the color blue haha but some people says it is because of the mythical belief that green is worn to “make you invisible to leprechauns” others, think it is associated with the color green in the Irish flag 🇮🇪

❤HAPPY VALENTINES EVERYONE❤

When looking for “love” in the dictionary, I found out that over the years this word has been changing. From its origin 3,500 years back, to the Proto-Indo-European term ‘leubh-’, meaning ‘love, care or desire’.

Perfect day to share and spread love. out there!
