GLYN JOHNS MIC TECHNIQUE WITH A TWIST - HOW TO MIC A MASSSIVE DRUM SET WITH ONLY 5 MICROPHONES!

Everyone knows the famous Glyn Johns drum mic technique. It uses only 3 mics for the whole kit and used to record a lot of the Led Zeppelin stuff back in the day. It works great for a standard 4 piece drum kit but on a bigger set its not quite enough. In this video we will show you why it doesn't quite work for a bigger kit, and also show our own greasy addition to the Glyn Johns technique which works extremely well to mic a big greasy double bass drum set with 9 toms and a side snare!

In our first of many drum kit builds we decided to try out a Nicko McBrain Iron Maiden setup using the Chrome Ludwig kit. It’s actually super easy to do! YAMAHA EAD10 ON A GUITAR CABINET - WILL IT WORK?

Everyone knows about the Yamaha EAD10 and how it is one of the most easy and convenient way to record good sounding drums BUT could it work to mic up a guitar cabinet?

Spent a little time recently upgrading the studio computer! We upgraded to an old Mac Pro 5,1 and switched out the processors turning it into a greasy 12 core 3.4 GHz monster (compared to the old 3,1 not to todays standard 😂)

MASSIVE 80s LUDWIG CHROME-OVER-WOOD RESTORATION

You may remember a while back we restored half of Mikes dads old Ludwig double bass chrome-over-wood kit from the 80s that had been left outside in the rain and snow. Well now we finally have the rest of the kit. Two bass drums, nine toms and a greasy Coliseum snare all restored by our good friend Steve at Refactored drums and freshly equipped with brand-new Attack Drumheads . This will essentially be our new studio kit moving forward because they're too big and heavy to move, and they sound excellent. What did you think of this historic drum set all restored?
