About Me.
I'm Jim Read, and I'm a videographer currently in my final year studying Media Studies at the University of East Anglia.
As someone who is passionate about all things to do with video, alongside my studies I've been working part-time for uea(su) as an in-house part-time videographer since July 2019. Throughout my time in the role I've produced a wide variety of marketing videos, specialising in live-events promotions and informative content about the campaign work and structure of the organisation. During my time, I have been constantly learning, growing my skillset and understanding more about digital marketing and how best to work in a small-scale creative team. In my role, I particularly pride myself in managing to craft high quality videos in a highly time-pressured environment and with limited resources/equipment.
Asides from uea(su), I've undertaken various freelance projects, varying from events videography for local businesses/artists, music videos for societies at university to running on commercial film sets. During my time at university I've been offering my services for low-cost in order to gain as much experience and practice as I can get.
Throughout my degree, I've specialised practically in film production, finding my passion lies within documentary form, I've undertaken various group projects, but for my penultimate creative practice I produced 2 episodes of a docuseries I hope to continue "Platforms" which focuses on uplifting trans voices within the arts. Academically, the majority of my written work has been focused on q***r representation and gender theory.
