Bhaskaracharya on gravitation

Bhaskaracharya II, also known as Bhaskara II or Bhaskara Acharya, was an ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer who lived in the 12th century CE. He made significant contributions to the field of mathematics and astronomy, including the study of gravitation.

Concept of Gravitation in ancient india

The concept of gravitation in ancient India can be traced back to the Vedic period (1500-500 BCE), where the notion of an attractive force was postulated as a fundamental principle of the universe. The ancient Indian astronomers and mathematicians developed various theories and models to explain the phenomenon of gravitation and its effects.

One of the earliest references to the concept of gravity can be found in the Rigveda, an ancient Hindu scripture, which describes the Earth as being held in place by a cosmic force. The Atharvaveda also mentions the force of gravity, stating that the Earth attracts all objects towards its center.

The concept of gravity was further developed by the ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhata (476-550 CE), who proposed a model of the solar system that included the force of gravity as a central component. Aryabhata believed that the Earth and other celestial bodies were held in place by an invisible force that he referred to as "gurutva" or "gravity."

**ढोल, गवार, शूद्र, पशु, नाड़ी,
सकल ताड़ना के अधिकारी ।।**

इसे समझने से पहले आपको समझना होगा श्लेष अलंकार क्या है। श्लेष अलंकार, हिंदी काव्यो मे प्रयोग होने वाले अनेकानेक अलंकारों मे से एक है।

अब रहीम जी की इस दोहे को देखिये:

रहिमन पानी राखिये, बिन पानी सब सून।
पानी गए न उबरे, मोती, मानूस, चुन ।।

इस दोहे में कहा गया है की पानी के बिना मोती, मनुष्य और चुना तीनो उपयोगी नहीं होता। लेकिन यहा पानी एक ही शब्द होकर भी तीनो के लिए भिन्न भिन्न अर्थ रखता हैं।

मोती के अर्थ में- चमक
मनुष्य के अर्थ में- प्रतिष्ठा
चुनें के अर्थ मे- जल

इसे ही श्लेष अलंकार कहा जाता है। हिंदी, अवधि आदि भाषाओं में, विशेष कर काव्यों में अलंकारों का प्रयोग एक सहज प्रथा है।

तुलसीदास जी एक श्रेष्ठ कवि रहे है। उनके काव्यों में अलंकारों का प्रयोग बहुधा देखा गया है।

यहाँ ताड़ना शब्द द्वारा श्लेष अलंकार का काव्योचित प्रयोग किया गया है। यहाँ ताड़ना का अर्थ इस प्रकार है:

ढोल के अर्थ में- पीटना
गवार (अशिक्षित) के अर्थ मे- समझाना
शूद्र (सेवादार) के अर्थ मे- अनुशासन रखना
पशु के अर्थ मे- नियंत्रण रखना
नाड़ी के अर्थ मे- दृष्टी रखना
