The Nigerian aviation authority is considering approving China's COMAC C919 aircraft for domestic airlines. The move underlines China's influence in Africa's most populous country.

The Comac C919 is a single-aisle passenger aircraft designed and built by the Chinese manufacturer Comac. Its development program was initiated in 2008, followed by the start of production in December 2011. The first prototype was unveiled on November 2, 2015.

The Confederation of Sahel States (AES), comprising Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, decided on Monday to withdraw from the International Criminal Court (ICC), describing it as “incapable” of judging proven war crimes, crimes against humanity, crimes of genocide, and crimes of aggression.

According to the statement seen by Anadolu, “the ICC has remained inexplicably, puzzlingly, and complacently silent toward the perpetrators of such crimes. It has relentlessly pursued certain actors who do not belong to the closed circle of beneficiaries of institutionalized international impunity, including in violation of its own statute.”

According to the International Cycling Union, 36 African countries are expected to participate:
