We discuss cultivating faith, and the common misconceptions of belief. The difference of a faith in God is a declaration of allegiance, or a devotion as a partner. This allegiance is spoken of specifically in Hebrews 11, how your allegiance can’t be merely lip service. This faith must cause action.

As your faith grows over your life, the path toward action intensifies and is amplified by your personal journey. The great characters of the Bible were able to accomplish much because of their faith. God even specifically rewards their faith with an equal reaction to the plan of faith and salvation for all.

Are you the kind of person that wants to include others? Whether it be socially or even about spreading good news, the Bible and evangelism is about sharing the love of Christ.

You can do this with kindness. You can do this with hospitality or a meal. You can share the love of Christ with strangers, your family, or your coworkers.

The ability to reach across the table and help others to join your group is capably of changing lives. The ability to reach others and share the Gospel has the ability to save souls. Are you sowing the seeds of the Kingdom of Heaven by being inclusive?

Neil Postman’s book Entertaining Ourselves to Death is a great read, filled with a thesis of changing times based on technology. Literacy and the ability to read empowers those who embrace the acquisition of knowledge. Knowledge of the scriptures and the love of God is reflected in the Bible. The calls for discipleship are belief in the higher power of God through Jesus. It requires a change of heart leading to a change in your actions. Embrace love. Abstain from evil things and thoughts. Serve others. Help others. In this pursuit, the beginning is founded on your curiosity to seek God through His word. What is stopping you? Work preventing your dedication? Not enough time? Not enough money? Have something else to do? Maybe the game is on? Can’t miss our favorite show. Be careful, because you might miss salvation for your soul while you’re watching the big game.

New episode is live with special guiest Neil Tremblett. Neil is preacher of Creekside Church of Christ in Franklin, IN. In addition to being a real estate agent, he is an advocate for realism among the family of God. Open about his youth, experiences in state homes and foster care, as well as personal abuse suffered, he is bold in his statements of redemption and the salvation of Jesus Christ.

This short conversation is a conclusion of his time with the Milwaukee Ave church in Lubbock for a series of lessons with the congregation’s youth and worship services. Temptation comes in many forms for everyone. For Ethan, and many people today, temptation comes in the form of food. Any addiction is considered idolatry. It takes work, faith, and humility to keep such temptations at bay. Is something getting between you and God? You and your family? Are you addicted to your phone? Gambling? Drugs? What is in control of your life other than you? The healing power of prayer can help through those moments of temptation. Small obtainable goals works to be successful in helping you work on changes in your life. Repentance talked about in the Bible implies a change in your life. How do you balance the call to work by God, developing your talents and skills, and not falling into the pit of arrogance? It’s a challenge without God. Few people make such a selfless contribution to this world. Most stumble over the stumbling block of the secular follies of power, the pursuit of wealth, and the fulfillment of self. The body of Christ is made up of all kinds and types of people, unified by the blood of Christ into God’s family. These observations are meant to uphold wisdom, teach patience, and cause mutual love among all of the church. When we separate ourselves from others, we weaken the established structure of the Kingdom of God. Why be divided? Because they aren’t like you are? Because they wear socks with their sandals or enjoy a cup of Starbucks before heading to the office? Do you have the mindset of love and patience with all people? Or do you constantly find yourself ostracized from others? We hope you find unity and peace among the children of Christ. It is important for you to be discerning first to your own heart, and then seek after the things above, accounting righteousness for yourself.

New year, new episode! If you haven’t read the Bible from cover to cover, we encourage you to take on the task. Like any difficult task, it takes commitment and determination to do so. Once complete, you may find many things to have contemplated. You may find you are not the same person when you began reading. Like any other self-help process, to be successful, you cannot stay the same person through the process. You have to think. You must consider. You must adapt. You owe it to yourself to give the Bible a try. Then and only then are you fully faced with the choice of whether you carry its lessons with you for the rest of your life, or you place it back on your shelf and move on. We hope you have a fantastic new year, and God blesses you.

Even to those who seem full of confidence. Knowledge and humility seem to be the things to prepare and practice to grow self confidence. What about confidence in something larger than yourself? Better late than never, right? In our season of thankfulness, we look at our attitudes and being thankful in the Bible. We look at a story in I Samuel 25, where David and his men encounter Nabal and his wife Abigail. Have you ever been slighted when you thought you should be thanked? Have you acted like David and gotten revenge? David was fortunate because of Abigail’s actions. She interrupted David’s revenge plot and caused him to rethink his choices. Abigail’s actions caused David and his men to reclaim their attitude of thankfulness. It is easy to lose focus on your thankful heart and cause yourself or others to stumble. The Bible does not want for spooky or scary concepts and ideas. There is a specific creature mentioned repeatedly in the Bible which causes fear and wonderment, the Leviathan. Whether this creature is still lurking in the depths, or has been tamed by the ancients of old, we still deal with our own Leviathans today. The choices we make, from the effects of peer pressure or the crippling weight of decisions past, can haunt us more than a scary movie or story. The freedom of release from those past choices are found in God’s kingdom and Jesus’s forgiveness. We hope everyone has a safe, and thought provoking, Halloween.

The world we live in is breathtaking, terrifying, awesome, and vast. Taking a moment to think of the creation of God is valuable every now and again to help with your spiritual perspective: a trip to the mountains, the first view of the ocean, considering the depths of the oceans or the vastness of space, or simply taking a walk listening to the breeze blowing in the trees.
