High drama in the Maasai Mara plains. A Mother Jackal somehow manages to pressure a Tawny Eagle enough to let it drop its prey, moments after successfully grabbing the Jackal pup right under the mother's nose. Tawny eagle swooped and tried to grab the cub from the mother's jaws. The jackal had ducked and avoided the eagle. The eagle landed some distance away and watched.” “After that, the jackal continued forward, stopping and scanning the surroundings.”
“The eagle would make a few more attempts, but each time the jackal would outwit it. After a few unsuccessful attempts, the eagle finally managed to catch it; the action was fleeting and lasted perhaps a few seconds”.
