ℹ️🌿 WHAT IS ANCESTRAL TRAUMA? |

Ancestral trauma, also known as generational or family trauma, is rooted in the notion that the emotional scars and experiences of our ancestors can reverberate through the generations, impacting the psychological and emotional landscapes of their descendants.

This concept has gained traction due to findings in the field of epigenetics, which suggests that our experiences can influence our genes and these modifications can then be inherited by our offspring.

At its core, ancestral trauma embodies the idea that unresolved traumas, pain, and suffering from past generations can influence the mental and emotional well-being of individuals today.

Do you have a child that people call "sensitive soul"? Or worse, are they labeled as weak, a sook, or wimp? Our culture has presented these children in a negative light as if feeling deeply is a negative attribute to have. When we try to "toughen kids up", we are actually damaging a character trait that that sees, feels and understands things that most people don't. If we nurture and guide these children to understand and develop their sensitive side, what incredible adults they will be.

Sensitive kids aren't weak, they actually are far more aware of what is happening around them than most. They notice changes in their environment, they seem to notice the moods of others more quickly and will be running through every possible scenario in their head before making a decision. Yes these children are more prone to anxiety, but their sensitive nature doesn't have to be a negative trait, they just need help to develop it.

Parents: take note! Children need to be monitored for social media. You never know when something like this could happen to your child. This happens so often, we just don't hear about it because it "doesn't happen here." And yet, it does. Thankfully this father is speaking out and fighting for social media companies to become more strict!

Kids are gullible. They don't know how to handle emotions when something major happens. That's why they act out! Trust me, it could be happening to your child and you don't even know it, even if your child talks to you and "tells you everything." Guess what--they are NOT telling you everything!!!!

Some education on discipline, courtesy of family development reading assignment. 😁👇

We often hear Proverbs 13:24 in reference to spanking.
If we consider the culture during the Old Testament, the rod was used by Shepherds to GUIDE sheep, not beat sheep into submission. 🤷🏼‍♀️

▪︎"Discipline is instructive and restorative, used to correct and teach appropriate behaviors. The heart of discipline is to educate children in the proper path"

▪︎"Evidence suggests there is only a slight difference between abuse and physical punishment in negative child outcomes." 😳

▪︎"Physical punishment leads to disempowerment; natural and logical consequences lead to empowerment."

>> Parents worry about the growing post-pandemic youth mental health crisis.
▪︎Children are struggling with social interactions and processing emotions.
▪︎Smartphone and social media use is linked to increased mental distress, self-harm, and suicidal ideation, which has been "supercharged" since the pandemic.
▪︎Youth feel socially isolated and marginalized.

>> What can be done?
▪︎Validate feelings. Families can talk honestly about the stress they've been under the last few years.
▪︎Seek professional help. Start with your child's primary care doctor or a mental health professional (licensed therapist, social worker, or counselor) to have them screened for anxiety and depression.

Our expectations of children can be so high when, quite often, they are mirroring what we do. We may not see what they are doing as important, but it is to them. That doesn’t mean that they shouldn't do what we ask, but it does mean that we need to take into consideration what they are doing. We can't expect them to drop everything and respond straight away. Give them warnings for when they need to do something else. Or give them options for when they can do what you are asking. This really is just treating them with the respect we all want.

😳Truth: I’m so nervous right now…
I said tomorrow I would tell you my “big news”. I was meant to tell you last week but I’ve put it off.

🫣Anxiety is telling me…
I’m scared the news will flop.
I think people don’t care.
This won’t go well.

😔Lately I’ve been totally deflated on here. I don’t know whether it’s the dreaded a word (algor!thym) or whether I just don’t have it anymore.

📉My content gets minimal interaction for an account this size. I try so hard to create reels and “do it right” only to see them flop.

📲And I try to remind myself “it’s only social media” and “likes don’t matter” but actually… they do when it’s your entire business.

🚫So I’ve had a bit of negativity - fear, nerves, disenchantment, disappointment, anger - and that’s not a great energy to be working from around content creation.

💛🙏 The other side of that coin is I continue to love what I do. I believe in my work. I know my teachings work and create change. I’m very happy in my life.

💬 So there you have it - thought I would be honest about the behind the scenes for me right now.

Keep an eye out for tomorrows announcement I guess! 🤷‍♀️
👉🏼 I’m practicing what I preach and sitting with this discomfort and I’ll stop avoiding now and do it!

💕 Believe in yourself!

At age 17, she was rejected from college.

At age 25, her mother died from disease.

At age 26, she suffered a miscarriage.

At age 27, she got married.

Her husband abused her. Despite this, her daughter was born.
At age 28, she got divorced and was diagnosed with severe depression.

At age 29, she was a single mother living on welfare.

At age 30, she didn't want to be on this earth.

But, she directed all her passion into doing the one thing she could do better than anyone else.

And that was writing.

At age 31, she finally published her first book.

At age 35, she had released 4 books, and was named Author of the Year.

At age 42, she sold 11 million copies of her new book, on the first day of release.

This woman is J.K. Rowling. Remember how she considered su***de at age 30?

Today, Harry Potter is a global brand worth more than $15 billion dollars.

Never give up. Believe in yourself. Be passionate. Work hard. It’s never too late. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
