The World of WWE Podcast presents The Greatest Matches of 2000's Episode 1- 2000. We have to start our greatest matches countdown with the beginning of the decade in 2000. Bill Clinton was still president, as George W. Bush looked to win the presidential bid against Al Gore in November. Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Jennifer Lopez, Backstreet Boys, and Aaliyah dominated the music charts, "Almost Famous", "Erin Brockovich", "Little Nicky", "Meet The Parents", and "Gladiator" were some big hits and the WWE was kicking WCW's ass in the ratings war. At the time Stone Cold Steve Austin was out with an injury so it was time for some new stars to be made. The start of the year saw The McMahon-Helmsley Faction dominate the WWE as Cactus Jack, The Rock, and others tried to end their reign. Eventually The Undertaker, Stone Cold, and The Rock put an end to this alliance as Rock reigned as WWE Champion from May through October. We saw Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho's rivalry heat up over the Summer and the Kurt Angle and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley love triangle commenced. Edge and Christian, The Hardy Boyz, and The Dudley Boyz stole the show every time they competed especially in the first ever TLC Match. Kurt Angle would defeat The Rock in October and hold on to his title in many battles, his famous title defense being the Armageddon Hell in a Cell Match against Triple H, Rikishi, The Rock, The Undertaker, and a returning Stone Cold Steve Austin. We would find out in October that Rikishi ran over Stone Cold back in November 1999 and he blamed The Rock for it. Stone Cold would whoop ass on Rikishi until he learned that Triple H was the person who actually put Rikishi up to running Stone Cold over. In a cool moment at Survivor Series, Stone Cold would get his retribution and use a forklift to lift Triple H inside of a car up high in the air and drop him to the ground below. 2000 was a memorable year, and possibly the greatest year in WWE history. Creative storylines were great and so were the matches. Please enjoy this list!!
