The Eclectic Post is growing and we want you to be a part of our journey for without your stories, we are incomplete! Come join our team of Writers and gain first hand experience of not just working in the field of content production but also meeting like minded individuals who are passionate about giving people from various communities a voice.

This is a paid opportunity. You will be able to earn approximately RM 50.00 to RM 150.00 a month and will be required to write around 1-3 pieces each month. Both non-fiction and fictional work as well as poetry are accepted – choose your forte when emailing your CV and sample writings.

Candidates who are shortlisted will go through a one month trial period.
Do take note that candidates will be required to pitch content ideas to the Editor for approval before writing it (you can submit pre-written work if the Editor approves it). Being shortlisted strictly does not equate to all your written work being published on TEP.

If you are interested, please Email your CV and past work to [email protected]

We are specifically looking for writers with -
- Good command of the English language
- Reliable
- Conscientious
- Able to meet deadlines
- Prior work experience is not necessary

It is an absolute pleasure for TEP to be introducing a new voice today - Esther with her poem - Porali (Fighter).

In honor of January being Tamil Heritage Month, we urged Malaysian Tamil writers to share their craft with us.

This spoken word poetry is narrated in Tamil and aims to capture the fight of Tamil people…

A fight for equal rights
A fight for the future generation
A fight for the unity
A fight for The Human Race
A fight for a Better Tomorrow

Well, what better way to start than a poem by one of our new writers - Hessa Syabirah

Show some love to - Titleless - a sonnet, dedicated to the Orang Asli of Malaysia and other marginalized communities globally whose rights, land and livelihood was and is robbed.

March: 𝚆𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚗'𝚜 𝙷𝚒𝚜𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢 𝙼𝚘𝚗𝚝𝚑

We at The Eclectic Post believe that Women's History Month is a global celebration of all women. ✨

TEP has and will continue to be a platform that always has space for the voices of women from all around the world. And no, biology has nothing to do with how we view women. If this is a month dedicated to your people, then we urge you to come forward with your submissions. There is no story too insignificant, no contribution too small, no life that is not worthy of being heard. So pick up that pen and write! We cannot wait to see what you come up with. ♥️

19/08/2021

In Malaysia, schoolgirls have to go through “period spot checks” to physically prove that they are on their periods to their teachers or seniors. The methods include showing their blood-soaked sanitary pads, doing swabs of their va**na with either cotton buds, tissues, or their fingers, or having a teacher, warden or school prefect pat them down at the groin to feel if they are wearing a sanitary pad.

Why is this done? In Islam, women or girls who are menstruating do not perform ritual prayers. Hence, some girls who do not join congregational prayers, which are commonly held in residential or religious-based schools, have to go through period spot checks before they are allowed to leave.

The purpose of this short story is to bring awareness to this issue. Period spot checks are degrading acts of sexual harassment, but in Malaysia, they are considered 'normal practices' and there are no consequences for perpetrators.

What can we do to stop period spot checks?
1. Write to your ministers to urge them to take strict action against period spot checks
2. Teach young girls about inappropriate touching - and to voice up when they are harassed
3. Provide emotional support for survivors of period spot checks
