CCC News, est. 2020 is an honest local digital news publication providing meaningful local content in both English and Spanish to lift up local residents, hold agencies accountable, and bring solutions-minded reporting to the Mid-Columbia region. That’s right 1 in 15 newspapers have closed their doors for good since many communities across the USA are becoming news deserts that don’t have access t

o any local news coverage and instead must rely solely on national news sources. The majority of local press closures have a lot to do with the high overhead costs associated with print media and the drying up of advertising dollars as classifieds and directories are now largely available online. CCC News digital newsource costs nothing to print while still delivering the same great local content to an ever-expanding audience online and in our local news apps for FREE. Due to our low overhead operating costs we can survive on local advertising dollars and local donors with much greater ease than a print paper, so we can keep delivering the news for years to come. Good for the Community

Local news acts as an advocate for the community. CCC News journalists and editors are invested in the communities in which they have personal stake. In other words...we live here too. And it’s important to us to be in community and see our communities thrive. Due to our unique position reporting on community happenings, local news is well connected to our community and it’s leaders. In our line of work we often have the privilege of bumping metaphorical elbows with diverse community leaders and stakeholders helping us to develop a clear picture of what is actually happening in the community and sharing it with our readers. This helps us connect community members to one another to get problems solved behind the scenes and at the podium. Now that’s what we call solutions minded reporting. This is especially important due to our communities' rural location during an age of mass isolation and echo chambers. Good for Accuracy and Honesty

Digital news is faster and more efficient than print. It can deliver emergency information and important breaking news to the community in real time. Digital media allows news stories to be published as soon as they are done being written- without the need for a lengthy printing process that involves cutting and pasting articles into a newspaper layout that requires sacrifices such as shaving words to make things fit. And unlike traditional print news, digital news can be edited in real time as readers are reading it. If an article contains inaccuracies or mistakes, they can be corrected instantly. In print media, it takes days to make corrections leaving incorrect information with readers and ultimately miscommunication. Digital News, through reader reviews, provides better, faster and more accurate information. Good for Equity

CCC News is available in both English and Spanish. Bringing more equitable access to news for all members of our diverse community. We currently serve over 300 community members who access our site in Spanish only. Reaching all Residents

We’re also a FREE resource for community news. Thanks to more than 200 local donors and advertisers we can offer our news for free. This means that even the most financially impoverished can still get the local news and the sense of community that comes with it. Good for the Environment

CCC News is a carbon-neutral publication. By forgoing print CCC News is also dramatically reducing the environmental impact of local news. Having an entirely digital news publication reduces all carbon emissions associated with printing and newspaper delivery. In addition CCC News purchased carbon offsets to offset the use of vehicles and offices used in reporting.

There were 21 correct answers including our own Sheriff, Lane Magill. So, we took those entries to the roundhouse and pounded the names and numbers as flat as a penny left on the tracks. We put those pennies in our hobo bag of chance and boiled it in our Buddy Burner until the train pulled out, and we ran halfway down the tracks reaching for the last open car. Ian Creed was inside the door holding out a hand like a magician. In his palm was the penny, lucky number 17 - our train hoppin’ winner.

I discovered that whenever I was engaged in singing (sad or happy songs, it made no difference), I did not feel anxious or depressed. It felt as though the activity of singing changed something in my brain and nervous system. That’s exactly what music does.
