Agglomeration of more than one million inhabitants, Bafoussam has literally boosted its urban architecture and accommodation capacity. Between tradition and modernity, the regional capital of the West represents the highlands area .
A succession of traditional buildings with bamboo walls and clods of earth; a picturesque architectural picture that can be interrupted almost every kilometer by a modern castle surrounded by a high wall of concrete or iron. It is the contrasting landscape that Bafoussam visitors discover from Yaoundé (nearly 300 km away) or from Douala (268 km away). Entering this very commercial city-crossroads of the "Grass fields" area, you can admire the plains and valleys of red earth, bordered by family plantations on both sides of beautiful asphalt roads. The fruit of this labor, in terms of fresh food, is sold all along the main road and in the many always busy markets in the region.

Buea is one of the biggest towns in the English speaking region of Cameroon. It's the capital of the South West Region of Cameroon. The town has a very long and rich history. It was the Capital of German Kamerun from 1901 to 1919. It was also the Capital of Southern Cameroons from 1949 to 1961.
The tallest mountain in the whole of West and Central Africa, known as Mount Cameroon is found in this historic town. This mountain attract tourists from all over the world.
The town is less than an hours drive from the sea side town of Limbe and Douala, the biggest and most vibrant city in the country.
The town is fast developing to become a metropolitan city. It host one of the best universities in the country. More and more universities and university colleges and or departments find this town an ideal place to locate their institutions.

Buea, town located in southwestern Cameroon ( Cameroun ). It is situated at an elevation of 3,000 feet (900 metres) above sea level and is located on the southeast slope of Mount Cameroon.
Buea was the capital of German Kamerun from 1902 to 1916. Several historic sites of the early mission and colonial periods have been preserved, including the Prime Minister’s Lodge (1902), the old Secretariat, the Bismarck Fountain, the Native Authority School (1902–04), and the German Burial Ground (1911). In 1922 Buea became the seat of the British commissioner for Southern Cameroons.
Present-day Buea is an administrative and trade centre. It has textile, construction, and wood industries, and nearby are a number of oil-palm and rubber plantations owned by the Cameroon Development Corporation. Tourism is important. Buea is served by an airfield, roads, a hospital, and a branch campus (arts) of the University of Yaoundé. Pop. (2005) 90,090.
