A FEW TRUTHS ABOUT TOUGH TIMES

1. If you accept tough times are part of the seasons of life, it will keep you from sinking into depression

2. Maintain a healthy perspective. Going through tough times doesn't mean you are not blessed, you are actually being prepared for something great. Preparation is often not easy but it is the foundation of better things to come

3. Tough times will reveal to you your true friends and expose the fake ones

4. Tough times will introduce to you real friends who are attracted to your purpose

5. The best ideas tend to be conceptualized in tough times

6. Sometimes God allows you to go through tough times to wake you up and get your attention especially when you have become too familiar with Him

7. Sometimes you have to reach a dead end where no one but God can help you, so that no one but God can receive the glory

8. Great people have learnt the art of converting tough times into a path to being a master of something

9. There are some lessons that tough times will teach you that good times can't

10. Tough times will open your eyes to see opportunities and doors that complacent you did not

11. Some of us lack the courage to move past our current level and lack the initiative to take the next step on our own, tough times will catapult you to the next stage of your life that you are afraid to take

12. Tough times will make you naked so that you see yourself for who you truly are. Tough times will force you to be real with yourself, what are you really made of? Because when you are going through tough times, there is no one to impress, you have to be you

13. Most couples enter their best season after they reach rock bottom. That is when their true love is tested and they emerge stronger together

14. Instead of complaining about tough times, ask yourself "What am I being taught and how can I ride this wave to be better?"

15. Read biographies of the great. No story of greatness has ever been written without a season of tough times

16. Up the mountain, down the valley; the Lord is your portion in the land of the living. Even in tough times, God is with you

17. Tough times might take you a step back so that you restrategize or change route but you will soon charge forward with more power than ever before

18. There is a better, wiser you waiting after you have conquered the tough times

19. Once you conquer tough times, mentor others with the lessons learnt. Don't be stingy with your wisdom. Greatness is not selfish

“A few days ago while I was at the pool I saw a young mom and her little daughter walk into the pool area dressed in very pretty coordinated swimsuits.

The mom, with her perfect loose curls tied in a coordinated tape, spent the first few minutes talking aloud on her phone to a friend while her daughter stood waiting to get into the pool.

Mom ended the phone call and proceeded to scatter pool toys and sunscreen on a matching towel.

Then, after finding the right angle and the right light, mom took out her tripod and took a few selfies with her daughter.

Little girl asked to get in the pool
Mom said to wait and then posed her daughter in front of the pool, then entering the pool and then back out of the pool.

Little girl smiled big and said cheese like she had done it a million times. So Mama told her she could play now.

The little one swam for a couple of minutes.

Mom called a friend from her phone and started another conversation while her little girl asked politely and repeatedly:

“Mom, can you come to the water with me please?”

She was ignored.

"Mommy, will you come to play with me?" She asked 4 more times.

Mom looked at her, but never hung up the phone. After 10 minutes mom finished her call, picked up the sunscreen that never applied, the water toys that never touched the water, and then her daughter and left the pool.

I sat there thinking about what I had witnessed for a while later. I imagined the photos she took being perfectly edited and posted on social media with a caption like "Pool time with my girl!

Somewhere another mom will be at home with her kids, the house a mess because of her game, her hair rebellious for Mother's Day and her dirty laundry with saliva or peanut butter.

She's going to be tired because she spent the day cooking, caring, cleaning and playing with her kids.

She's going to look at that picture and compare herself to the perfect mom in the pool.

Guilt will whisper in your ear:
"You're not good enough... "
"You don't look like that mom in the pool... "
“You don’t have money to buy expensive swimsuits like that and you don’t have time to make memories like her”... and that young mom is going to believe it. She's going to feel like a failure. She'll never know that how she spent her time that day, was far better in the eyes of her children than that "perfect mom" in the pool.

What we see on social media is not always real.

Sometimes and often it's a complete set up.

It's staged and filtered, it's fake.

Sometimes we see absolutely wonderful vacation photos and beautiful homes and freshly-styled hair, but it's just ONE moment.

It's the best moment of a whole day spent like ours.

Working, cleaning and putting up the mess...

Mama don't compare yourself.
You are enough!
You're amazing and the best part is, you're REAL!
Your dirty beach, your messy house and your happy children are real and are proof that you are doing it right!”

LIFE ✍️

You see this broken cup?

Some of us are like this

Hurt and broken

Shattered on every side

Patching to look strong

Just trying to hold on

Not knowing how the end would be

Hiding tears in our smiles

Making others to smile

While you go back home and wet your pillow with tears

Thinking of the unknown

Thinking about life

And thinking you're alone

If you're like this cup

Just know that God is not done with you

Everything has it's season and time

Just hold onto the rope of hope

And trust the process

All will be well

You matter! đź’š
