Building an online business is a growth experience.

Raising a family with intention is a growth experience.

Moving countries during a p|andemic is a growth experience.

Doing it all at once is m̶a̶d̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ accelerated evolution. 💥 🎢

We live in a time where unicorns and rainbows abound. 🦄 Many people in business appear to be an “overnight success”, others share their highlight reel. Some pretend life’s rosy while suffering in silence, or bypass their feelings altogether.

I tried all of that, and it felt inauthentic. I was hiding who I am. I refuse to do that any more.

I want you to know my business is thriving—and I also have months where I don’t make sales, I feel frustration, and I question my skills and value.

I want you to know I love being a mama—and I also cry and scream into pillows sometimes.

I want you to know I love living in México—and it was heartbreaking to move our daughter away from her extended family. And it’s even more heartbreaking to have people we love disown us for the choice we made.

Growth IS hard. It takes courage to walk the untrodden path. That’s the Heroine’s Journey. ⚔️

I've decided to create a home for my writing. ✍️

My Mama Summer follows the journey of me; an unconventional millennial mother living abroad, building a business, and raising children while stepping into who she's meant to be. ✨

It’s the place I’ve chosen to share my trials, tribulations, growth, expansion, and success, so you know you’re not alone when things don’t go to plan.

Remember: things “not going to plan” is all part of the plan too.

I’m not sharing a highlight reel, it’s more like a diary. And it’s all ok.

I don’t need pity, sympathy, or advice. I just need you to be comfortable with me sharing it all.

I headed out for a tarot/astrology reading today.

After the s**t show that has been the last few weeks, I decided some higher guidance was in order from someone who hasn't spent the last few weeks either:

- up all night with a toddler with a fever
- shivering all night with her own fever
- up all night with a toddler with a fever again
- up all night with an accidentally-high husband
- up all night with a food poisoned husband

Needless to say, my reading was epic. It aligned beautifully with another I had recently. And I know exactly where to go from here.

I don't have the energy to share here today, but will do so over the coming weeks! ☀️

One of my dreams is to build my own house. 🏡

Not a modern house that someone else has designed (been there, done that).

I mean design it and build it with my bare hands.

It’ll be made of natural materials - cob, straw, h**p, wood - my choice of which will depend on the climate.

With curved lines, an earthen floor, and tadelakt plaster.

Exposed wooden beams, large windows, and a conversation pit in the centre of the sitting room.

A big library with a bench seat and an abundance of cushions.

Indoor plants taking over. 🌿

Spring-fed water. A natural pool. Fire pit. 🔥

Friends everywhere.

Flowers and faeries galore. 🌻

Fruit trees, bees, and butterflies. 🐝

A mud kitchen for my little ones who run around bare-naked like they’re supposed to.

While others want to outsource this part of their dream, I don’t.

It’s all part of it for me.

I want to sit back in awe after it’s built and say, “Wow, look what I did.”

Feel how it feels.
To breathe in the satisfaction. ☺️

And raise a family in an environment that looks minimal to others, but means so much to me. 💕

I often don't post here because I don't feel "inspiring enough".

Maybe it's because my feed is filled with coaches clad in lingerie, spreading their legs to invite me to their new "Quantum Queen" program - and I compare myself to them.

Me? Well, I've been sitting in my sweaty office with humidity hair, no bra, and ripped shorts since 10am. And I'm lit! 🔥😂

I've been in the editing suite updating videos which detail how my business model works.

Because we just got a pay rise AND released an insane new product all in one week.

It's pretty exciting stuff. I need to remind myself that it might not feel glamorous to some, but it is for many. And the many are MY people.

People who want to build an online business so they can live their life emphatically offline! 💃

Travelling, playing with their kids, having deep conversations, playing music, growing food, learning useful yet forgotten skills - making shoes, building earthen homes, solar ovens, woodworking, canning, fermenting, and preserving. Making lifelong friends with others doing the same.

People who want to dedicate 3-5 years learning an online skill to experience a lifetime of:

- Time
- Freedom
- Autonomy
- Connection
- Community

And never having to say to their children, "I didn't have enough money/time/energy" to reach for my dreams.

This is the movement Brendan and I have been quietly, slowly building behind the scenes for 5 years.

You probably haven't heard us talk about it, because we've been whispering.

But we're about to get a whole lot louder. I feel the inspiration bubbling. 🫧

It's not for everyone. But it is for the people I describe above.

It's been a while, friends.

I thought I was just taking a 'little break' while I focused on building some behind the scenes stuff...

But a connected, wise soul tells me I've been hiding. So there's that. 🤷‍♀️

I don't know if it's hiding or whether I've been truly busy beyond belief. It's likely a combination of both.

Juggling motherhood, wife-hood, me-hood, tending to the weeds in my inner garden, washing my hair, remembering to eat, staring at my daughter and wondering how she's even real, and sitting in disbelief at how humans treat each other takes up most of my time lately. 🪴

I've been doing all of that quietly, fervently, whilst also building an online business and community I'm fiercely proud of.

Alongside a man I'm deeply grateful for.

I've experienced highs and lows, and I might share more of that as I feel to.

But for now, I just wanted to write a little something, to get out of my habit of hiding and to shift that pattern.

NOMAD FRIENDS

How do/did you keep in touch with your friends in a meaningful way in different places after moving elsewhere?

I've found this so challenging since we moved across the world.

I'm a mama, wife, am running a household and a business, and with so many balls in the air, friendships (and family) have been the thing to take a hit.

I only have so much time in the day/week.

When my head hits the pillow, I think about my sending flowers and gifts for upcoming birthdays and events.

I have virtual conversations (and make apologies).

I calculate available time zones windows.

We make passing comments to one another, "We must jump on Zoom!"

I wonder what my friends' lives are like now.

And then I sleep, wake up, and months have passed.

I can't be the only one who has experienced this, surely.

Tell me I'm not bonkers (and that there's a way I can manage this like those before/beside me!).

Today's To Do List:

- Get my little gal to kinder (❌ we all woke up at the time she was supposed to already be there)

- Wash my hair (❌ it's still in a bun)

- Take meat out of the freezer for dinner (❌ whoops, I forgot)

- Write a post sharing the epic details of Friday's launch event (❌ got sidetracked)

Clearly CRUSHING it today! 😂

But what I did manage to do was:

✅ Cuddle my daughter a billion times 🤗

✅ Order some takeaway for dinner 🌮

✅ Chat with some beautiful humans in my DMs 💗

You can't nail every day, but you can keep putting one foot in front of the other, right?

Last week, I put out a post saying I was coming out of my hibernation... 🐻

And then I got smacked down by a few nights of no sleep and started hibernating again 😅

I'm a hermit at heart, but this week, I'm gonna be pretty darn vocal about a project that's close to my heart.

This is something that has been a long time coming for Brendan and I.

It's something that our freedom-focused friends will be VERY excited about. 🤩

Particularly if you're a parent...

And if you'd describe yourself as "unconventional"...

And also if you find yourself in a little bit of a "rut" and want to squeeze want fun and family out of life...

Why do I need to announce my “up-level” with a glamour shoot?

Why do I need to wear lingerie and heels to express my power?

Why do I have to post pics of me in a little black dress, with a spray tan and makeup to show you I’m building an empire?

Newsflash: I don’t!

I’ve been up-levelling like a m**o for the past few years.

I’ve done it all barefoot, bare-faced, and boobie-filled.

Most of it, I didn’t even tell you about!

I just quietly went about my work.

If I didn’t show you, did it really happen?

That’s the million-dollar question in 2024! 😉

I’m here to normalise the normal.

Actually, no.

Celebrate the exquisite.

I feel sad that so many women feel compelled to pretend.

To fulfil stereotypes of what “success” and “freedom” look like.

This is what freedom looks like to me. 🐥

I love that I get to have tea parties with my husband and daughter in the backyard in Mexico. 🫖

I love that most days I rock life in mismatched clothing and hubby’s woollen socks.

I love that I spend most of my time at home.

I love that my business is thriving.

I love that my community loves me for being ME.

And that they get to make a living being themselves because I showed them it was possible first.

THIS is freedom.

THIS is success.

Not flaunting myself as a luxepreneur. 👠

Not hiding or pretending in any way.

But by taking off our masks and being real.

That is the real up-level. 🔥

This is the face of a woman who is finally exiting her hibernation. 🐻

I've felt so many emotions over the past few years, judging myself on where I "should be", comparing myself to others, and wondering when I'd feel ready to direct my energy outwards again.

I've also prevented myself from feeling many feelings. Sadness, guilt, shame, anger, embarrassment, the list goes on.

We've made some BIG moves over the past few years - moving to an entirely new country was one of them (and all the judgement, projection, and stories that came along with that were exhausting).

Alongside having some brilliant mentors in my corner this year, I also have an incredible partner, a beautiful family, and a growing tight-knit business community I'm about to serve in a whole new way.

One of the interesting things about working online is that sometimes we feel the need to broadcast everything on a loud speaker.

But I'm comfortable doing things my way. Quietly leading the people I'm here to lead, owning my genius, and sharing it with people who are ready for renewal.

When we're in business, there is endless information being thrust at us every day. Unless we are laser-focussed, we'll chase disco ball after disco ball and never bring our 1 thing to life. 🪩🏃‍♀️

This is OUR year. Everything Brendan and I have worked together on over the past 10 years has all been leading to this point. 😎

We thought we'd put the little one to bed early and have some quality time together last night. 🥰

But then I spent an hour detangling her matted hair before it got so knotty we'd have to chop it all off.

After rinsing her off in my hair salon… errr… sink, coaxing her to take a shower with me, getting her clothes on, and somersaulting our way across the bed…

….hubby and I lasted 20 minutes before our eyes proved too heavy to do anything but sleep. 😴

I prayed for deep rest but after 3 minutes in bliss town, she edged closer, waking me up to sleep closer to me.

Or should I say, on me?

Which naturally led to her wanting some boobie.

And then, of course, she needed to p*e.

But it took a little while to shake her little arms out of her sleep suit.

So her little bladder and I didn't quite make it to the toilet in time.

Which meant we had to change her trackies for new ones.

And cosy her up in her sleep suit again.

Which then made her wide awake.

And thirsty.

But her water was empty.

So a trip to the kitchen was in order.

But the water I brought back was too warm.

So I went to get a colder batch.

Which was still too warm.

So she didn’t drink it.

But…

It did help her realise she wanted to eat some steak! 🥩

After some tough negotiation, we settled on a dried, polish sausage.

Which she gnawed emphatically as she sat on my pillow beside my head.

Finally, she finished that bad boy, and demanded yet another round of boobie to wash it down.

No, I wasn’t allowed to lie on my back while she drank.

The only acceptable option was me on my side with an arm contorted over my head, a face smooshed in the pillow, and my hips blissfully misaligned. 🫠

But somehow, I finally fell asleep, amongst being awoken for more milkies, of course.

And finally…

The rest I needed.

For what must have been... what, 3 nano seconds?

Because, out of nowhere, like a punch in the face, my alarm rudely informed me the day was to begin.

It was time to scrape my sorry carcass off the bed.

The day didn’t care that my body felt like lead.

And neither did the little smiling face staring back at me.

And strangely, neither did I any more.

Because a mother’s love has no equal. 💞💞💞
