Man rules:
#1, if a man ever extends his hand to you, you shake it, no matter what. You shake every hand that's extended to you, even if you despise them. That's Texas respect.
#2 If said man is throwing a temper tantrum over a story you are covering about a known embezzler of church funds and an accused child molester, because "they are all right now just allegations," even when you have more details than he does, yet he will still not extend his hand, even after you calmly explain you would be more than happy to hear their point of view. This person is disrespecting you in front of a ton of people and needs to be outed. However, I'm not going to do that yet. Even when you are doing contract labor for the organization he's associated with. AND FINALLY
#3 You be polite, always, and then call another sponsor and have your paper completely disassociate themselves with any aspect of that organization until this man apologizes formally or resigns. Oh, and one last thing. He has threatened lawsuits against news papers before, because of the spin of a story that didn't fit his sensibilities. Sorry, there's not an attorney in the world that will take your case over what you feel, and that facts the other person KNOWS.

And finally, I'm the owner. Come after me. Have I not made it perfectly clear that I'm scared of absolutely no one? Defend your friend the criminal, you have every right, but disrespect me after I have been nothing but out-of-my-way polite to you, and I assure you, you will most certainly regret it. I don't care how much money you have or how many animals you have in the circus.

I give respect and ask for it in return. Anything less, might just get you on a Taylor Swift album, or worse, in Off The Record.
I'm always polite and respectful TO EVERYONE until you give me a reason not to be, and then be very prepared for the counter.

Ladies and gentleman, The Olney Advocate was able to read the affidavit. The residence of Mike Allen of Olney, Texas WAS searched based on a tip from a child p**n task force out of Dallas, Texas. A DVD was allegedly found that showed boys that appeared under the age of 18 performing sexual acts. The FBI and the Texas Rangers are investigating. We will have the full transcript of the affidavit in tomorrow's Olney Advocate. However, I will warn you, it is graphic, disturbing, and will most likely infuriate you. I have not revealed Mike Allen's name until now, and I will reiterate that he is innocent until proven guilty.

Ladies and gentlemen, there are three documents that are public record that I have NOT been able to obtain. After sending 3 voicemails to Judge Stephen Bristow's office regarding a search warrant that he signed, an affidavit, and what's called a "return" or what was removed as evidence from a residence here in Olney, I have received nothing. I also sent a FOIA request to his office, and will wait until these legal obligation are met. I'm
writing this post because I want you to know that I am vigorously seeking answers regarding the case that the Texas Rangers are investigating. This case and the questions that surround it continue to be a constant and serious public safety issue regarding our most precious resource, our children. I want you to remember that these Young County entities are elected officials, and I encourage the people of Olney to remember the almost constant struggles we have had with these specific Young County government officials when they come up for reelection. I will continue to fight for the public safety of our community. - Kurt McCord

Well, folks, sometimes, I will have to stop every single thing I'm working on to cover a really, really big story. This happened today. You will understand when the story breaks why I had to do this. I do apologize to my loyal customers for not getting all of the deliveries out today. As a member of the press, I sometimes have to delay releasing information in support of law enforcement, and I as the son of a police officer, I will never put any investigation at risk, nor break the trust of my law enforcement partners, until I'm given the go-ahead to release the information. Texas Rangers are investigating, and I will bring you updates just as quickly as I am able. In the mean-time, paper deliveries will be completed tomorrow. I'm sorry for any inconvenience the delay of the deliveries have caused, and I hope you understand, that sometimes, these things happen, but I will always be steadfast in my protection of this community. I'm writing this week's Off The Record, and it's a major revision from a piece I had published in 2011 or so. It's about my good friend Brian Brown, who taught me how to play guitar back in the 90s. I have written millions of sentences in my lifetime, but there is one sentence in this piece that is, without question, my most favorite sentence I've ever written. This tragedy in Dallas occurred less than 100 yards from where I used to live. One of the residents of my building was an african american Dallas police officer. When I would leave for work every morning, he would be standing in the lobby, also getting ready to go to work, in full uniform. He remembered the residents' names, and as I would rush out of the doors into the busy street, he would always say "Hey, Kurt, have a blessed day." I can't remember his name, but I do know that even if he was off work yesterday, he would have thrown that uniform on and run toward that building to protect the residents of Manor House, Downtown Dallas. I pray today that he is safe. Downtown Dallas was my home, and I grieve with my friends who still live down there, and I pray for that city, our state, and our nation in this time of such discontent.

UPDATE FROM THIS WEEK'S EDITION of the OA

News

Earlier this morning, after a records request from Superintendent Dr. Greg Roach of OISD, it is confirmed that OISD has received two faxes regarding the Seymour ISD land dispute. The first fax was sent from the TEA on June 23 to OISD. It states that an appeal was received from Sammie Morris, but the appeal was deficient, relating to a legal term called ex-parte. In layman's terms, ex-parte means you can not file anything related to this situation without notifying BOTH parties involved. Since Morris did not inform OISD of her intention to appeal to the commissioner of education, it was kicked back to her based on this regulation.

The second fax was to OISD on July 1. This was a fax directly from Sammie Morris, in an effort to remedy "ex-parte," notifying the school district of her intent to appeal. However, this notification was received after the deadline to appeal, which elapsed on June 24, 2016. So, in essence, some of the paperwork submitted by Morris was before the deadline, and some of the required paper work was submitted past the deadline. TEA has yet to decide on whether the appeal will be granted, however, we may get word on that as soon as today. I am attaching these documents, which is public information.

The name of the female found on Lowe road off of Texas Highway 251 has been officially identified as Shelby Gober of Olney. Cause of death is still pending and it is still being investigated by the Texas Rangers.

The OA is working on a story about a body that was found between Olney and Newcastle sometime this morning. According to various media outlets, Trooper Dan Buesing stated that the body of a 33-year-old white female was found in a ditch in a rural part of Young county. No other information has been released regarding whether or not foul play is suspected, but we are able to confirm that Texas Rangers are investigating. We will bring you more information as it is released.
