• Top fashion looks at 2021•

Attendees at the Royal Enclosure were required to adhere to a dress code conceived after a collaboration between the Saudi Fashion Commission, Dr. - an expert on Saudi heritage, and fashion illustrator Norah Sahman. It came as no surprise, thereafter, that outfits inspired by Saudi heritage was the dress code and the event was riddled with color and glamor, quite literally, thanks to the slew of royalty, celebrities and influencers who graced the event.

Fashion was at the top of its game, much like the sport itself, and quite in Derby style, many attendees were spotted in hats and suits. But it were the outfits that adhered to the dress code that really stole the show. Contemporary renditions of traditional outfits like the Bisht were all the rage among some attendees while others chose to wear more subtle interpretations of Saudi fashion heritage while wore traditional dresses from different regions of the kingdom.

Sea turtles, sharks and dolphins get injured by soda cans or choke on plastic bags. Chemical waste released by factories into the ocean often contaminates entire ecosystems of marine life. Excess use of plastic is one of the major causes of water pollution. Sea turtles mistake plastic bags as jellyfish and eat them. It's important that we recognize the effect pollution has on marine life especially by plastic which is non biodegradable. This is harmful for humans too, as plastic breaks down into microplastics which later gets consumed by the fishes, resulting in contaminated seafood

Restaurant review -

The desserts were a fitting end to a great meal.

1 & 2. White Chocolate Ball, Coconut Crumbled. Chef Masroor, the head chef at Farzi Cafe informed us that the inspiration behind creating this dessert was a biscuit in India called that every child who's grown up in India would relate to. He wanted to incorporate those flavors that take us back to those childhood memories and make us nostalgic of bygone times. It sure did the trick for us.

3. Rasmalai Tres Leche - a traditional rasmalai with a cute little twist and a lovely caramel topper

Restaurant review -

We were invited to dine in this hip place in Riyadh and we totally recommend everyone who loves good food, good service, a youthful and contemporary vibe and loads of fun on the table, to visit this restaurant.

Cover photo - welcome shots made from scientifically modified yoghurt to form globules contained in a gelatin shell that pop in the mouth

1. Daal Chawal Arancini - arancini with a twist, made of the traditional daal chawal (rice and lentils, a popular dish of North India). The chef told us that he aimed for this dish to include the entire daal chawal experience in a single bite. Totally loved it

2. Spiked Beef Kulchas - minced meat inside leavened bread that is baked to perfection. A great starter for bread and meat lovers

3. Shrimp Tempura - one of the most simple looking yet innovative dishes we tried. The shrimps were delicious and crispy but what stole the show was the faux foam on the top made with lemon and chilli, another molecular gastronomy innovation.

4. Chicken Mulligatawny Soup - lentil soup flavored with chicken and served with the prettiest bread on the side topped with greens and lovely flowers. It was one of our favorites, we loved the subtle chicken flavor that blended so well with the lentils

5. Chicken Tikka Masala - a classic that is served in a London telephone booth. The flavors were perfectly balanced, no too spicy and not sweet like most Indian restaurants tend to serve.

6. Osso Bucco Kabsa - the most aromatic kabsa we have ever had, made with basmati rice and topped with a thick mutton gravy made with Naeemi lamb. Had to be great

Restaurant review -

Farzi Cafe brought its unique "farzified" twist to its drinks as well by tweaking some classics like margarita and pina colada to develop some unique drinks that reflected the thought and creativity that has gone into conceptualising and creating these drinks.

Our favorite was the Sangria - a mix of freshly squeezed watermelon, pureed peaches and freshly squeezed grapes.

1. The Romanarita being served - freshly squeezed pomegranate juice served in a traditional margarita coupe; completely halal fun

2. The Ananas Orbit - a pina colada derived drink with a sizzling side of non-consumable but absolutely thrilling display of faux smoke

5. Karak Chai - traditional Indian tea made with adding aromatic spices, presented in a very cute copper flask with a nozzle. We loved it
