Amici! We want to introduce poetry at Ephemera Newsletter where we'll publish one poem per issue.

We're trying something a bit different and here's how it works:
-We request a minimum of five and up to ten poems.
-One author is selected to receive a $200 honorarium, and have one distinct poem published in each weekly edition of Ephemera for the month (4 or 5 issues).
-Each month, we'll cap subs at 120 and may hold some submissions from the previous month. That gives folks a good idea of their odds, and they get 5-10 poems to show the breadth of their style.
-We'll also have a separate post featuring the poet, all of their poems with Ephemera, and some more about them (bio, artist statement).
-We do request a reading fee.

For more info, check out our post at Substack: https://tinyurl.com/EphemeraNewsletter

Thank you for your time and presence.
Merci. Danke. Kiitos. 고마워 Go-ma-wo, Xiè xiè.

Beginning in April, Ephemera will select 1 poet per month to contribute 1 poem to each issue and we'll pay a $200 honorarium + other perks!

Ephemera Newsletter Issue March.2, druzi! (Ukrainian for “friends”)

In this issue, we consider the impulse to nostalgia and artists who use yearning, featuring: Beach House vis a vis their song "Myth" and Herb Williams, crayon sculptor. The impulse to nostalgia comes from our narrative-driven mindsets.
We ask, how can writers utilize nostalgia while avoiding the yearning industry and we explore novelty and specificity in the process.
Also in this issue we offer our weekly infusion of pithy advice, book recs, definitions, intros to zines, awards, and inspiration.

We invite you to read our letter where we offer creative and professional encouragement as well as a weekly curated list of upcoming prizes, residencies, grants, classes, and jobs in the writing world.
Gratitude for your presence!

The Write-In Residency! $300 + 10 books + Gift

We all need more time to read and write, find new books, and publishers. We often overlook our own spaces and communities when we think of spending focused time away from daily work to catch up on our reading or writing.

Ephemera understands how difficult it is to find a time and a place to write, to outfit our places according to our best intentions and most inspiring visions.

In that pursuit, we’re hosting The Write-In Residency. The Write In Residency will sponsor 2 individuals, where the winner is gifted a curated package of 10 new books in multiple literary genres each from a different independent publisher, a Moleskin & pen, and a $300 award to upgrade their writing nook or home office.

Ephemera Iss. Oct.1
Welcome to the Ephemera Newsletter, Hiriyoota! (Oromo for “friends”).
In this issue, we consider texture and layering, featuring two artists who practice these techniques to great effect: Radiohead vis a vis their song "There, There" and Caitlin McCormack, crochet artist creating skeletal specimen look-alikes with depth & feeling. Disparate elements moving in cross currents can be sewn together and work in unison, appear crystalline while being sneakily complex.
We ask, how can writers best martial these skills?
In this issue we offer our weekly infusion of pithy advice, book recs, definitions, intros to zines, awards, and inspiration.

We invite you to read our letter where we offer creative and professional encouragement as well as a weekly curated list of upcoming prizes, residencies, grants, classes, and jobs in the writing world.
Gratitude for your presence!

(Creativity and Motivation Weekly) We present a tapestry of Caitlin McCormack's art, Radiohead's music "There, There," and analysis of craft and creativity, along with 3 magazines, awards, jobs, books and more. Join us. Read and react. Bloom!

Ephemera Iss. Sept.1

Welcome to the Ephemera Newsletter, Frënn! ( Luxembourgish for “friends”).

In this issue, we consider smallness, how to pack meaning & likability into tiny, discrete packages. Microcosm to macrocosm (or vise versa). How artists like Slinkachu and musicians (however old timey) like Buddy Holly, instill their compact work with walloping feels & iconic riffs: create impact through scarcity.

(Creativity and Motivation Weekly) Music by Buddy Holly and Installations by Slinkachu. We present 3 zines/awards/jobs and consider how the small & quiet things can be majorly impactful. Read about excellence vs perfection & ruminate on the importance of microcosm.

Ephemera Iss. August.3 Out Now!

This issue considers how messaging interacts with art consumers, readers, how text-based installation artists might draw you in and affect your sense of self, how a musician might signal their style, their voice. We ask, can writers use these techniques and apply patterning? And our weekly infusion of pithy advice, book recs, definitions, intros to zines, awards, and inspiration. Gratitude!

We invite you to read our letter where we offer creative and professional encouragement as well as a weekly curated list of upcoming prizes, residencies, grants, classes, and jobs in the writing world.

Ephemera Iss. August.1 Out Now!

This issue considers unlikeable characters, traits, and voices in literature, examining Johnny Cash's lovable music about scoundrels and the painting of Tala Madani who favors the unconscious and antisocial as subjects in her work. Along with pithy bits of advice, book recs, links to essays around the realm, intros to magazines we like, upcoming prizes and offerings as well as jobs, we round out the newsletter with opening "rants" on a different creative theme each week. An always cool writing ephemera. Gratitude!

We invite you to read our letter where we offer creative and professional encouragement as well as a weekly curated list of upcoming prizes, residencies, grants, classes, and jobs in the writing world. https://writingephemera.substack.com/p/ephemera-newsletter-iss-august1?r=6fd8y&s=w&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web

(Creativity and Motivation Weekly) Music by Johnny Cash and Paintings by Tala Madani. We present 3 zines/awards/jobs and consider unlikeable characters. We appreciate bad apples delivered with aplomb, grit with gloss, couching the untoward in eloquence.
