We have a new episode series called Growing Up In Medicine. In this series we will feature the untold and often twisted stories behind the CVs. Unlike a boilerplate career advice talk, we will examine in some depth and in the context of a broader narrative the hidden human factors behind working in medicine and show that a smooth career path is rather rare. We will discuss failures, mistakes, discrimination, impostor syndrome and more.

Our first episode features , whose incredible Twitter stories about medicine have resonated with thousands online. Dr. T shared with us the behind the scenes of his career, the detours, the doubts, and the amazing mentors and patients he met along the way. We hope this new series will promote a more open and honest discussion about the challenges of a career in medicine. Enjoy the episode!

If there's one thing we know from personal illnesses, it's that health is so multifactorial. We might spend a few minutes talking with a doctor, but then we're left with everything else to deal with. How can we get a prescription filled? How do we cope with our health conditions at home? Where do we even begin with filling out all of these forms for government programs? Who do we turn to when we feel overwhelmed?

These needs, and so many more, are addressed by our amazing social workers! Andrea Brodey shares what her work is like, and gives us a glimpse of just how valuable social work is. Tune in this Sunday at 6PM EST!

Myth: Receiving palliative care means giving up on curative treatment.
Myth: Palliative care is the same as hospice care.
Myth: Only palliative care specialists should provide palliative care.

The truth is, 90% of people in Canada die from a chronic illness. Please consider learning more about this important topic by listening to this episode, featuring Dr. José Pereira, a palliative care doctor, founder of Pallium Canada, and an excellent educator.
